What's a good moveset for Onix in Fire Red?
>>27996047
Putting it in box 1
>>27996047
Get a Graveller.
>>27996047
rocker stomp, smash, ground pound, dog attack
>>27996047
>45 Attack
Not using Onix is the best move
>>27996047
Tackle
Harden
Bind
Bind

I'd suggest Rock Slide and Earthquake, but both of those are 1-use and much better used on literally anything else, so I don't know

Brock please go

Don't use Onix. It may have a huge defense, but its other stats are laughable.

I used it in my recent playthrough and I think it's legitimately the worst pokemon in the game
>only available after the electric gym, the one niche where it might actually be useful
>low appearance rate
>low catch rate
>doesn't naturally learn earthquake or rockslide by leveling up
>45 attack
>low special defense/hp which means he loses like half his hp from dumb attacks like bite
>is weak to water and grass so any pokemon with a water or grass attack can basically 1 hit kill it
>built around physical defense but has 2x weakness to ground and fighting, which are some of the most common physical attackers in the game
>resists poison attacks but because of low hp it effectively takes normal damage if it gets poisoned
>because of low hp it gets fucked up by attacks like dragon rage and sonicboom
>even if you take the time to teach it dig/earthquake many poison types (ghastly line, koffing line) have levitate
>can use screech but it only has 85% accuracy
>most of the attacks it learns naturally are mediocore but don't have 100% accuracy
>comes with sturdy (which in gen 3 only negates 1 hit kill attacks) or rock head, which lets it use double edge without taking damage (lol)

oh i forgot
>almost every electric pokemon in the game comes with sonicboom which will 3-4 shot onix because he has low hp so his resistance to lightning is useless
JUST
Onix deserves better.
