I can't remember if I did have a similar idea beforehand since I had thought of it with non-Pokemon characters or if I saw your prompt and thought it would work well with Maylene.

If I had wrote it I'd probably leave the ending less ambiguous because I like the thought of a character's innocence or naivete getting taken advantage of to a certain point and when they finally start to feel uncomfortable it's either too late for things to stop or the trickster takes more of an active measure to make sure they can fully satisfy themselves.

Her personality in B2/W2 is that she is a rowdy, rude punk rocker girl on the surface, but surprisingly self-aware and mature once you get to know her. So I think she'd be beyond perfect for such a fanfic.

She also has one of the strongest displays of ethics and moral code in the entire game.

She has a small sub plot where she has to get her father to accept his responsibilities (nice role reversal), and then she leads you and Hugh in a chase to get the Team Plasma grunts that show up in her City.

Plus, being a famous Rocker, it'd make more sense to have a bunch of fans that would give anything to get into those big boots of hers.

B2/W2 are absolutely fantastic. They are huge in terms of content. Probably the biggest games to date. The Regional Dex is huge; Dare I say it, perfect. Most of the problems of B/W are fixed in the sequels.

Gen 5 also is incredibly different from the rest of the games. They almost feel like they were made by entirely different companies. I just finished replaying B2/W2 again myself, and I don't feel like I'll be burned out for S/M at all. S/M looks like it'll be an entirely different experience.

Not only are they connected more than any other game in the franchise, but if you use the Memory Link feature (Using B and B2 on the same DS, or W and W2 will allow you to connect the games with "Unova Link"), they connect even more, with direct references to the previous game, updated teams, and extra fanservice and cutscenes.

Those latter two points just feel perfect for possible stories. You could have the fan or someone else come from there, people within it not really noticing anything bad that happens because it isn't there business, people outside not really caring because it's the bad part, etc.

Makes me think too that Roxie's outward appearance and personality could work against her in such a situation depending on how well people know her. If she happened to go missing they could chalk it up to her lifestyle or her just deciding that she was bored of being a gym leader and skipped town without leaving a notice.

Admittedly I'm glad to hear that about her specifically for other reasons, but the NPCs having more character is something I wouldn't mind being a thing. Allows them to be appealing outside of their designs and allows people to do more with them, whether it be innocent or not.

Glad to hear it, it feels like a fitting possibility when you're dealing with a character of some renown in their universe. Was going to say there could even be a Pokemon version of wikifeet to hammer home things about the fan, but I'm not entirely sure the Pokemon world portrayed by the games has something akin to the internet. Not to mention it's debatable where someone could get a picture of Roxie sans boots.

Speaking of which, I've developed a bit of a thing for footwear and the idea of trophies, so Roxie's boots fit in with that and the fan angle perfectly.

You reminded me that the Memory Link feature is a big part of why I wanted to replay BW first. You do make BW2 sound appealing, which I think echoes what others have said, making me reconsider starting up BW if I have the time before SM. The aforementioned do look different, but I probably won't be convinced until I actually play them.

Since I've gotten into smell relatively recently I've come to love this aspect of the games. Doesn't that Hoenn and Alola have warm temperatures.

For strongest I want to say either ORAS May (Particularly if you subscribe to the idea of her not wearing socks) or Hilda off the top of my head. Hoenn has a tropical climate and I could see Hilda working up a sweat in those boots.
