Alain has held his own again Steven's Metagross and fucking Zygarde. His Charizard would probably need the full cooperation of Ash's entire team to take out.

It's like the kid who trained his starter exclusively, while you trained up a more balanced team at lower levels. Shota is even more "low-leveled" than that. He's a rookie, and the power gap between him and Ash is pretty big. Sceptile beat Greninja back then because Ash wasn't used to using his meme energy and got fucked because of the handicap.

I have to disagree with that. The fact that Pikachu handled Tyranirar ans Metagross so easily, including pretty bullshit iron tail ko on the latter, proves that at least some of his Pokemon were up to the task, and moreso, that those thunderbolt hits on Charizard should have pulled a number on it.

There's also the fact that the episode's name was released months ago and was described as his ultimate battle. Nothing ultimate if the result is the same old. At least not when you count the fact that he battled multiple legendaries, evil teams, and saved the world. Only way it could be ultimate would be if he did win. There's nothing to say the result couldn't have been altered half way looking at how things went.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the charizard being stronger theory got disproven ir they fight for team flare shit, or a final rematch at the end of the series. It's all up to waiting and seeing, assuming the writers don't get all hanged after the shitstorm in japan.

Just want to say that's not necessarily true. There was no necessity for him to win that particular match for it to be called ultimate. It just had to be the biggest fight Ash has had in the region to date. And it was. Having team flare arc after the tournament should have clued people in that they wouldn't make Alan lose just yet. He'll lose when it's revealed he's a bad guy and so the good guys win like in any kids' show.

By the way, their 2nd fight was inconclusive between Greninja and Charizard so this is technically only Alan's 2nd win with that match-up. Ash will win the 3rd when Alan is revealed to be evil. People just convinced themselves that since Ash "lost" the 2nd fight so they can say Ash will win the tourney.
