Harrison and Tyson were fair and square, Tobias made sense but it WAS bullshit that they wrote this faggot in the first place. Alain isn't necessarily bullshit, but they really made his Zard X too OP if you watch the mega specials.
At least Ash sort of had a chance with this one, but not really.

Alain beating Ash made sense.
He was a great battler and he's shown that all through-out the season. It's only how he won that was controversial.

Alain, there's no fucking way he should've won, Ash had the better matchups, the better team, and the strongest pokemons and somehow ALAIN STILL FUCKIGN WON. This way of making Ash lose is easily the biggest asspull in the history of the anime, it's almost as if they weren't trying anymore.

Tobias. Surprise Latios and Darkrai with no prior inclusion in the anime is bullshit and shouldn't even be allowed.

Harrison was kinda bullshit considering how he had a bunch of Hoenn mons in the Johto league.
Cameron was annoying as fuck. All of Unova was crap and most of Ash's mons were useless so there's no point in even caring.
Charizard in Kanto was shit.

Certainly not Alain. Ash-Greninja is strong but M-Charizard X has been doing nothing but fighting megas over megas over megas over megas, plus defeating an E4 after a 10-trainers-long match without rest, plus not fainting immediately against a Champion and a Primal.
He deserved to win.

There were no rules preventing him from using legendaries, and he himself said that if Ash beat his Latios and Darkrai he would most likely have won, which means the rest of his team is shit and he relies entirely on these two.

Because DP was spending so much time actually hyping up that Ash was going to win.

We had episodes actually dedicated to the Elite Four as a concept for the first time and the idea that if you win the league you have to face the Elite Four and the current champion. They melded the league with the games for this exact reason. They basically crafted a way for Ash to win the league, yet not the championship. The show set up a way for him to win without becoming champion. It found a way to actually make the league have a bit of tension because you knew they had set up a way for Ash to win, and still lose.

And then here's a guy with a fucking Darkrai and a Latios to annihilate his team. It was such a slap in the fucking face to what the season had been building up to.

And then the League winners fighting the E4 is never fucking brought up again and they go back to barely factoring into the anime again.

Harrison, and Tyson were fine and Ritchie is a terrible character but the fight was about character development for Ash more than anything else. It was kind of bullshit though.

Alain winning was fine but the Charizard/Greninja fight was kind of shitty and it really was time to just let Ash win the league.

Fuck Cameron.

Why don't we see more trainers with legendary pokemon? All I remember is Brandon, Tobias and some random trainer having a Heatran at a leauge.

Tobias is the only one that I don't consider asspull. Introducing a strong trainer you have no knowledge of makes for the most realistic part of the whole anime.
The other losses are fair, but the matchup always feels too convenient; if anything, winning the match leading to it (or winning the opening match in BW) are clearly asspull.

In the future, I don't expect Ash to ever win as long as he keeps battling with a fucking unevolved Pikachu, regardless of whatever gimmick Gamefreak adds to push him.
