Those two are crossgen Evos done right. Nobody really cared about Dusknoir and it felt like a Middle Stage mon so it needed an update. If they gave stuff like Maractus or Beheeyem an evolution I wouldn't mind. I guess they're also the least offensive because they kept Porygon2 and Dusknoir viable.

All megas did was break the game even more and make already god tier pokemon even better and the main reason for it, making some pokemon actually relevant, only happened to like 3 of them.

Megas were a horribly executed feature that had great potential, stuff like mawile should've just been an evolution and mega salamance/mega blaziken/mega anything that was already super good shouldn't be a thing unless it drastically changed them into something different instead of making them even better.
I wouldn't mind it that much if they just stopped making megas but they just backed themselves into a corner.

If they make more it just bloats things even more and anything that DOESN'T have a mega just suddenly feels a lot weaker and has less potential.
Anything that has a mega basically fucks up it's chances for an evolution and you either NEED to have one of these or you can only use this pokemon as a mega and take over the slot any other mega, and even then it could be shit because of that and many other things.


Overall it's just fucking horribly executed and the more time it passes the more it's clear it's a huge problem that needs to be either dropped, fixed or faded into obscurity.

Seriously. Blaziken is broken because of Speed Boost now, not because of the Mega. Remove Mega Blaziken and give Blaziken a Life Orb instead and you got the same shit. Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile are perfectly fine.

Gardevoir, Scizor and Heracross megas are somewhat relevant. Gardevoir is strong in doubles and gets use in singles. Heracross and Scizor mega forms are better in singles too. I'm surprised you didn't mention Banette, the ultimate shit mega.

Like Mega Scizor's upgrade is kinda marginal compared to most megas but the extra bulk is helpful since it's about as bulky as Skarmory now, making set up way easier. Not even him but no, 9 times out of 10 this wouldn't be true. The design philosophy behind megas is way different that with normal evolutions. They always go with a "super-charged" aesthetic, basically "what if [insert pokemon] was super badass"
Megas are almost always way closer in design than regular evolutions tend to be.
A lot of evolution lines just wouldn't make sense with Megas retconned as evolutions
For example, Carvanha - Sharpedo - Mega Sharpedo would be Fish - Shark - The Same Shark But With More Spikes
Snorunt - Glalie - Mega Glalie would be Triangular Eskimo Guy - Angry Disembodied Hockey Player Head - The Same Head With Its Mouth Open

Okay here's an idea /vp/ about mega forms. Moves that move items in battle like Knock Off, Trick, Switcheroo, Thief, and Covet still can't move a Pokemon's Mega Evolution stone, but moves that can disable the usage of items like Embargo and Magic Room can now disable Mega Evolution stones and therefore prevent Pokemon from Mega Evolving or even Mega Devolve (switch the Mega Pokemon back to their normal form.) However Magic Room also applies to your side as well meaning your Pokemon or any allied trainer's Pokemon cannot Mega Evolve or they Mega Devolve during the duration of Magic Room. And using Embargo lower's the user's Defense, Special Defense and Speed by two stages for two turns and switching the Pokemon will not reset that as the clock will still tick for the debuff duration.
