Sap Sipper helped it a lot. My main team is loaded with Pokemon that negate attack typings and he was a good fit, being pretty strong with decent coverage.
I do like that it changes with the seasons as well, but it was performance first that made me interested.

I always prefer the winter form, since I was born in December. I like having a mammal Pokemon that reminds me of that season.

Volcarona #1 Because of great design and usefulness.

Lurantis #2 Most gen 7 designs are in my top 100 but the concept and execution of it really makes Lurantis for me. Colours also my 3 favourite colours and their shades in one pokemon.

M. Banette #3 Most forgettable mega to most people but I love it to bits.

Sigilyph #4 Another questionable choice for a lot of people but it's mainly on my list because it shat all over the npcs in-game.

Staraptor #5 My favourite regional bird. Also probably favourite Normal/Flying

Torterra #6 I started playing Pokemon fairly late with Gen 4 so Torterra and Staraptor may be just blind nostalgia. Either way, the unique typing and concept are what keep me liking this pokemon to this day

I think that's the problem; they're like the blandest possible version of the "weirdly shaped space dragon" that we've had in all the legendaries since Gen 3. There's just nothing to them.
Also, I hate that one is literally a palette swap of the other. Feels lazy as hell.

I dunno about bland. I mean, they clearly do have a definitive design aesthetic: they're fast, and they're a duo. A core part of Gen III's design philosophy when it came to Pokemon was duality, and the Eon duo accomplished that pretty well, IMO.

Ah well, I can't make you like them. I think their lore and dex entries are what push them up so high for me, and then the simplistic yet distinctive designs are what cement them as all-around favorites for me. To each their own, I suppose.
