Do all Gen V starters have shit movepools, or is it Serperior?
I might end up just putting 4 grass moves on it like I'd do to my starters when I was 10.
Assuming you want an offensive Serperior, you're only moveset option is
>Leaf Storm
>Dragon Pulse
>Hidden Power
>Giga Drain.
He needs to have his HA so its worthless when used as a starter.

Just Serperior. Samurott and Emboar are pretty solid (but are shit design wise)

That's not true. Coil, Slam/Return, Leaf Blade, and Aerial Ace is a perfectly viable in game moveset. You can even put cut or strength or rock smash on him with no real concern of wasting a move slot.
all 3 are bloody awful, I say.

Wouldn't swords dance be better than coil?

This.
Emboar, in-game, move tutor free, can run
Flare Blitz
Superpower
Head Smash/Stone Edge
Wild Charge
Samurott in game, move tutor free
Aqua Tail
Megahorn
Aerial Ace
Sword Dance
Which has at least neutral coverage on everything save for Empoleon and Dialga.
tldr; Physical move sets on every starter for Gen V

I suppose so, I like the defense boost too though.
Looking at Serperior now it actually has a pretty good physical move pool. Aqua tail, Iron Tail, Leaf Blade + coil isn't bad. Aqua and Iron Tail both love the accuracy boost from coil. I'll have to consider trying this.
