I'm currently playing this and I'm trying to farm Miror B because I need Zangoose. It's not fun.

I didn't realize Zangoose was a Ruby exclusive until after I knocked it out when Zook had it.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever get a sequel to XD or another game set in Orre. The mainline Pokemon games are basically console-quality RPGs now and that makes Colosseum/XD/Stadium a bit redundant, unless Genius Sorority want to do a sequel that's completely different. And GS made way more money off of Shuffle, so I'm pretty sure they'll be doing small spinoffs like that.

We'll probably still get Ranger/Mystery Dungeon/Pokepark/etc.

I hope you don't really believe that. Because home consoles are significantly more sophisticated than hand held consoles.

It tried to be a good game, and that's more than what can be said about the 3DS games, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I encounter the 20th trainer with a Johto shitmon because you had to buy six different games on two separate consoles to catch 'em all again.

It did give us Shadow Lugia for more porn art though, so I can't hate it entirely.

Anyone else send their Psycho Boost Lugia to the current games? I've got two of them in the Bank and a bunch of others I thought were worth sending up. I've got a Butterfree with Teleport (because I could) in Yellow and now one with Morning Sun in the Bank.

It's the better Orre game, but I don't think the pokemon it gives access to are as good as Colosseum's/

While Colosseum's change of tone was nice, there were times when it felt like the game was trying way too hard.

I think its quite enjoyable. Even wiped a few times to some of the NPCs/ I'm at Citaldark and still haven't settled on a full team yet.

More Cipher, Snagem, Shadowmon stories as well as exploration if the region was built similar to the handheld games.

Question for the competitive players - are the unique moves from a Purified Shadow Lugia any good/worth importing to the modern games? Preferably a different Psychic-type attack. As it is the only Gale of Darkness-exclusive moveset I remember being useful was Tri Attack Togepi.

So I'm replaying this and I went and started the mt battle challenge with a lvl 26 Jolteon, Ursurang, Houndoom, and Larvitar and ended up beating everything up to 60 in one go and now I'm super overleveled at like level 36-39 fighting low lvl 20s.

Should I just restart my whole game since I took all the challenge out of the game (not like there is any aside from mt battle anyways) or just start training a new set of pokemon from the shitty shadow pokemon I have?

That's what I started doing, boxed my OP pokemon and I'm leveling Natu, Grimer, Duskull, and Swinub. Natu has become a rape machine since I spent all the coupons I earned from mt battle on the tm for Psychic but the other pokemon i have are just so slow so they will probably be replaced soon.

Pokemon Colosseum still is and always will be my favourite pokemon game.

I got it when it first came out (around the time I just got my gamecube) and I was so engrossed in the story as a kid.

It had a grown up and serious udnertone, criminal activity, mafia-big boss type of danger.

The little amount of pokemon made it personal to use and purify them all alongside your companion who can see shadow pokemon.

The protagonist was cool and mysterious, never seeing his backstory other than that he's probably a skilled orphan who surived on the streets.

And best of all, it gave the most beautiful and memorable track for me that I ever heard in my life.

When I first walked into the Relic Forest to purify my pokemon, I actually stopped playing and just stared and listened.

Even listening it to it now brings back such pleasant and warm nostalgic feeling almost to the point of tears.

Colosseum and Gale of Darkness are those kind of games that, while somewhat flawed and not particularly polished, can be an amazing experience for someone who happens to have the right tastes and mindset required to enjoy them.

I believe the technical term is "Comfy".

Just spent half an hour trying to figure out how to beat the SOS Magikarp Bingo Board with only 2 masterballs. It turns out that Lanturn + Weezing is the way to go - lanturn fucking shits all over gengar I found out. The only risky battle is lanturn vs tentacruel I had to start over from the beginning after water pulse confused me

I would've liked to have seen Rui/Wes gradually warm up to each other too, instead of Rui instantly trusting an ex member of the gang that kidnapped her. That's expecting a bit too much from a Pokemon game though.

I very much enjoyed these games, if only for the crazy-as-fuck names that the localization team came up with for the characters. And it was something different from the handheld games while still being its own adventure. Shame Genius Sonority hasn't done jack shit in the 11 years since

Will we ever get another double battle pokemon game?

Even with all the improvements they've made to the battle system since I still think Pokemon Colluseum and XD are the best mechanically. Building your team around protect+explosion, invulnerability to earthquake, or will-o-wisp and a pokemon with guts. Also doing away with HM's was great so you aren't forced to have a water pokemon and a flying pokemon.

Also these are the only pokemon games where the "set" is the default over "shift" and it actually flows naturally unlike using set battle style in the main games.

Also I forgot to mention that having variety in the pokemon you face/capture at the beginning of the game makes this so much more fun to replay than facing pidgeys, weedles, and rattatas from every single trainer you encounter.
