Its not even the yellow that bugs me, although Im not a fan of that muted shade of red.

It just looks really flat, there's a bit of shading and lighting sure, but not enough. Especially on the shell.

What's people's problem with the art this gen compared to old ones? I don't get it. Honestly a lot of the Sugi art from previous gens do a disservice to certain pokemon. Lumineon looks better at literally any other angle.

Seriously though, all other gens use multiple lighter and darker shades of the same color to add depth.

The Turtonator art has some dark shades, but the lighter shades are nearly non-existent. It looks super fucking flat because of it.

I like his design, and apparently many other anons do as well. I think as far as appearance goes, he's better than all of those Pokemon. It's OK for some Pokemon to be inferior.
