Alan is the best champion. He trained every single episode we've saw him, fought against the strongest Pokémon in the game and against 10+ Mega evolution, one beolnging to a E4 member.

He beat the whole of Unova just with Darkrai. Latios was clearly much weaker than Darkrai so maybe the rest of his hypothetical team were just 4 untrained Pokemon weaker than any of Ash's team.
