You do what the producers are doing, make a Pokemon movie that's not quite a Pokemon movie but rather a movie that happens to have Pokémons in it.

Horribly, Pokemons charm comes from its cartoony cuteness, you turn Pikachu into a realistic looking animal and it loses all charm.
Some pokemon can work in live action, for example a Murkrow, its basic enough to make into a real animal in terms of CGI, but say Scraggy, it wont look right
I'll watch it regardless but i hope to god its not Dragonball Evolution level bad. I kind of can't wait to see what a live action Gengar will look like.
