theme wise is always annoyed me that the rocket powered mecha pokemon was slow, wasn't good at shooting beams and pretty frail

Arena Trap alone gives it a stronger niche than Golurk. It also might be a special attacker so it has stronger Ghost STAB and is harder to cripple.

Give it 30 more HP. That'll leave it with 119, 80, 80 defences which is pretty balanced for a Pokémon as slow as Golurk.

Then let it learn a few more moves to take advantage of Iron Fist/No Guard.

I never realized, Golurk's BST is really low at 483, similar to Glalie's. Golurk despretly needs bonuses to it's defenses and hp, maybe like a 20 st addition each

To be completely honest, it's not entirely not attention-based - it's just not "let's see how many replies I can get." Stat wise, it should have been a slightly weaker version of Regigigas without slow start

how about a psyshock punching move. calculates based off of physical attack but uses the opponents special defense

reverse slow start, after 5 turns, he gets sharply raised to all stats but takes damage every turn once it activates. >unsealed
