How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:
>complete all Trainer Challenges for loadsa packs to kickstart your collection
>play through using basic decks to unlock them for versus play, then switch to theme decks from the store for extra packs
>grind prizes/coins on Versus Mode theme ladder
>enter theme format tournaments whenever possible using coins
>using your winnings from the last two steps, enter ticket tournaments. You'll get tradable shit from those
>trade packs/chests for the cards in a deck you actually want to build
>don't open packs before you have a solid deck, YOU EARNED THOSE, DON'T WASTE THEM ON SOME SHITTY HOLO RARE AND 9X KRABBY
>public trade is like the GTS, if you want proper results, put up your own offers
>occasionally the thread isn't entirely anti-social and can get you deals on cards

To see what your PTCGO stuff is worth right now, look for the PTCGO forums in the trading section.
>Your old IRL cards are probably fake or not worth caring about. Check TrollandToad and eBay instead of asking.

TOTT: What do you think of the CP6 cards revealed so far?

For a dude who was around for late 90s pokemon fun, CP6 is really amazing. I'll probably buy several booster boxes.
>>
>>27841796
>TOTT: What do you think of the CP6 cards revealed so far?
Nothing until translations
But it looks like that Mewtwo has Evil Ball for a single DCE on a non-EX basic psychic-type Pokemon. And then it also presumably has fucking Barrier as well.
And don't forget this was printed for a format with CP4 (read: D Valley is legal).

So this is pretty fucking nuts so far. All the other cards look nuts too, before translations. They're going all fucking out.
>>
So I was constructing a few prototype decks for post rotation meta and noticed there is no way to remove enemy tools now.

Is there anything to stop Garbodor decks from shitting all over the meta, like, at all?

Waiting on Pokebeach, but it may be a while since there is about 15 cards to translate. The first attack is probably 20 + 20 for each energy on the opponent.
>>
>>27841886
Welcome to what everyone realized a long time ago.
The only answer is Lysandre, or locking with Giratina or Shiftry SS.
There are also meme cards like Beedrill EX which might actually be good with the Mega?, Minccino FC as a tech, or Mr Mime PRC. People were willing to run something like Bunnelby to recycle special energies, so there's no reason why you can't run 1 or 2 of those to hit tools.
>>
>>27841950
oh dude, I hope they keep this card style for the next set, I've always had a soft spot for the old style and this looks really fucking good.

I'm curious what the Breaks will look like. The English set has 12 EXs so that's a good amount with the classic card design.

Mewtwo Break
>>

It's supposed to be Mega vs Break in the tcg. It's either a normal card or yet another Mewtwo-EX (Japan is already getting an X-Ball Mewtwo-EX reprint soon)

Pokebeach will go down soon due to traffic, so read while you can.

Nevermind, only 3 cards translated so far.

Mew – Psychic – HP40
Basic Pokemon
Ability: Neutral Shield
Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokemon by Evolved Pokemon.
[P][C] Psyshock: 30 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Paralyzed.
Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Slowbro-EX – Water – HP180
Basic Pokemon
[C][C] Slack Off: Heal 60 damage from this Pokemon. During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.
[W][W][W] Flash Splash: 100 damage.
When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

M Slowbro-EX – Water – HP220
Mega Evolution – Evolves from Slowbro-EX
When 1 of your Pokemon becomes a Mega Evolution, your turn ends.
[W][W][W] Roll Roll Spin: 100 damage. This Pokemon is now Confused. During your next turn, this Pokemon’s Roll Roll Spin does 100 more damage.
When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3
>>
>>27841971
Thats bullshit. They didn't think this through at all.

I stopped playing around Breakthrough so I didn't have a good look at the post rotation meta at all. It looks like all ability based decks (except maybe Vileplume variants, provided they can set up fast enough) will be DOA. That leaves us with what, M-Rayquaza and M-Mewtwo? Kind of disappointing desu
>>
>>27842182
>not wanting to spam straightforward pay2win decks based on high stat low ability cards
why are you even playing this game?
>>
>>27842069
oh nice they're reprinting some promos, that's cool
>>
OP image reminds me of the good old days of Mewtwo Mulligan.
>>
>>27842069
Starmie at 29 and Gyarados at 32 means there is either Starmie Break, a water Jynx, or a second Magikarp / Gyarados.
>>
Mewtwo – Psychic – HP130
Basic Pokemon
[C][C] Psychic: 20+ damage. Does 20 more damage for each Energy attached to your opponent’s Active Pokemon.
[P][P] Barrier: Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokemon during your opponents next turn. If any of your Pokemon used “Barrier” during your last turn, you can’t use this attack.
Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Gyarados – Water – HP130
Stage 1 – Evolves from Magikarp
[W][W][W] Bubblebeam: 50 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Paralyzed.
[W][W][W][W] Dragon Rage: 180 damage. Flip 2 coins. If either of them is tails, this attack does nothing.
Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

Rattata – Colorless – HP40
Basic Pokemon
Ability: Tricky Fang
When you play this card from your hand to your Bench, you may discard a Pokemon Tool attached to your opponents Active Pokemon.
[C] Bite: 10 damage.
Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Poliwhirl – Water – HP80
Stage 1 – Evolves from Poliwag
[W][W] Amnesia: 30 damage. Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks. That Pokemon can’t use that attack during your opponent’s next turn.
[W][W][C] Doubleslap: 50x damage. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 50 damage times the number of heads.
Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Starmie – Water – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Staryu
Ability: Galactic Spin
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may discard 1 card from your hand. Then choose 2 basic Energy cards from your discard pile, show them to your opponent, and put them into your hand. (You can’t choose an Energy card that was discarded by this Ability).
[W][C] Star Freeze: 30 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Paralyzed.
Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Starmie might see some use if there's ever a Garbodor counter. It helps Volcanion-EX use its ability, lets M Sceptile spend energy retreating and healing every turn, and may even be used in Blastoise decks if Starmie Break ends up being good.

>delta species being added to Sun/Moon

When did you realize that totem pokemon are basically pokemon EX? When did you realize that gen 7 was the gen TCG became canon?
>>
>>27842945
I guess? I assume there are people just lurking and instantly see and copy/paste the codes.
>>
>>27842529
This Mewtwo is pretty crazy. On top of being a hard counter to psychic-weak Pokemon like M Mewtwo, Barrier has no downsides. Switch out with Zoroark, play your own Ranger, or just normally retreat + Switch and you have an invincible Pokemon that gets through Garbodor. The only counter is a Lysandre or Ranger.

Gyarados is shit, Rattata is going to be good in M Gardevoir but would be amazing if it wasn't restricted to active, and Starmie's only good for Volcanion or some meme deck.

M Slowbro is a joke.
>>

Can japanese cards play against english cards?
Are there online codes in japane packs and can i redeem them in the tcg us online website?
And finally are the artworks the same throught out the diferent regions?

1. Unsure with the new tournament format they're moving to
2. No.

>>
>>27845212
This is the better Gyarados, though? Don't get me wrong, they're both S H I T, but Magma Base + 4x Magikarp off hand lets an Archie's AT Gyarados swing for 270 off a single DCE. It even has Theta Double so you can slap a pair of Muscle Bands or whatever other tool onto it.

Meanwhile the other Gyarados does a whopping 80 damage for three energies (wow!), and then a huge 90 for 4 whole energies on top of a great coinflip minigame! Truly a competitively viable card.

I also have seen stuff about some M-Beedrill promo, will that just be boosters that are already out with the EX beedrill shit as promos, or is it a whole new expansion?
>>
Is there always a card as down syndrome broken as shaymin in this game? Have there been similar levels of draw power at other times? Because this pay2consistently draw half the cards in your deck on your first turn is pretty bullshit.

there's stuff like Fairy Drop, and that Xerneas with Rainbow Blast(?) is gonna be a lot more viable with all these dual types in Steam Siege.

log in with your tcg account to view the forum.
your deck is unfocused and inconsistent because you're running a bunch of 1-ofs. if you're winning I don't know how you're doing it, but I'm telling you it would be more reliable to have consistent lines rather than "let's hope my whiscash/gyarados/beartic(which is bad)/octillery isn't prized.
I understand you just don't HAVE consistent lines which is why most people play theme until they can create their first budget deck. My first budget deck was vespiquen/eeveelutions but I don't know what would be a good one that won't be rotated out in a month. I just started using Rainbow Force with galvantula/bisharp/ATgolurk and that's been working pretty well at a low cost. I think Garchomp is pretty cheap as well but a lot of its support is being rotated
>>
>>27855734
we got them in generations, but they're shit compared to the ones from ex series

played a full set of holon water energy for my greninja deck, but sadly i have no options since I play rainbow road now.
>>
Been focusing on building a Xerneas deck with the bonus damage for each type, possibly with Xerneas Break too. How well would this work with Eeveelutions that add an additional type to all your cards in play? I keep making decks only to realise what I thought would work, simply doesn't. Tried a Toxicroak deck that poisoned them until they were close to KO, forced a swap, and repeated until their entire bench was in pretty bad condition, alongside something to deal damage to benched so I could take a huge stack of prize cards, but it just didn't work out for me very well.

I'm playing Rainbow Road for the upcoming season if that solves your problem

here's my list if you're wondering

2x xern bkt
1x xern sts
1x xern break sts
2x joltik sts
2x galvantula sts
2x zorua bkt
2x zoroark bkt
1x safeguard carbink fco
1x regice aor
1x mew fco
1x shaymin ex ros
1x stardust jirachi
1x wobb rc

4x sycamore
2x n
1x skyla (the one card i'm skeptical about)
1x ninja boy
1x lysandre
4x ultra ball
4x vs seeker
3x trainers mail
2x float stone
2x fury belt
2x revive
4x sky field

5x basic fairy
4x dde
3x rainbow energy

things i cut from the final list:

octillery
ariados
vileplume
>>
>>27856837
eeveelutions only apply to Stage 1's, and it only works for each DIFFERENT type, so having a bench full of fire-types doesn't help when flareon is adding the fire-type itself.
Look into different-typed pokemon that support Xerneas. Shaymin/Octillery for draw support, PrimalClash Ninetales for stadium lock, things like that.
If you run sky field you could add Circle Circuit raichu.
If you want to the most types with the least bench space, you could run SS Galvantula, SS Bisharp, and AT Golurk (Golurk loses dual-type if they play hex maniac). You could do VolcanionEX too because it's a basic but you're not getting anything from its ability and the other ones at least help a little bit (Golurk hits 120 for 4 colorless, Galvantula hits 2 bench for 30 with weakness for 1 colorless, Bisharp hits 90 for 1 colorless after a KO). You can't really use gardevoir or azumarill because they're part fairy-type and you will likely have another xerneas on your bench anyways.
>>
>>27856805
idk, i usually get matched against nooby decks myself, might be cause i live in eu where everyone is a scrub, rarely do i meet serious decks

and i mostly focus on fat kyurem and regice since most nerds run shitty exes, plus articuno is clutching often as well, when i have him in the back and then shove him in front for the ex kill and take 3 prizes
>>
>>27857090
Golurk is shit, it's pure Lysandre bait and you will never attack with it, especially since you will always be running at least one Mew for the psychic type, which conveniently also has free retreat.

>>
>>27856151

Shaymin is nice for instant set up but octillery is my jam. The opponent only takes 1 prize card and it works every turn. Plus me and my opponent usually draw the same amount of cards each battle just he draws through his deck and gets set up faster.
>>
>>27857514
Roaring Skies.
>>
>>27857745
I got the first Octillery from a pack and bought the second very cheap. A little more than 3 USD.

It works great in my deck, Raikou / Magnezone / Kingdra EX.

At the very instant I saw the first two in BREAKthrough I tried them, and with Kingdra I can finally breath a little against Fighting-Type Decks. Rough Seas works wonders nullifying chip damage.

Both are valuable. No one's trolling. Roaring Skies is more beneficial, though. Shaymin EX is much more common than the secret rare Ultra Ball in Plasma Freeze, but the Ultra ball is worth around 200$ if you do get it.

I've been running it online with Galvantula, Bisharp, Volcanion, and Shaymin (2 of each of them) while I attack with 4 Xerneas.

I've had decent success with it. Volcanion isn't much of a problem with fairy garden or float stone. If anything I send it out to sponge weaker attacks when I can and it seems to work out in my favor. Personal preference I guess.

How to run Rainbow Road properly:

4x Xerneas
2x Shaymin-EX
3- 4 Other Pokemon lines. At least one should be dual type and all should attack for colorless or have a useful ability.
Possible list: Zoroark, Zebstrika, Garbodor, Golurk, Volcrona, Galvantula, Volcanion-EX, Giratina-EX, Jirachi, Mew, Wobbuffet, Regirock AT. Sure there are some I'm forgetting. This will be dependent on the meta.
Never run a Xerneas BREAK.
Never run more then two stage 1 lines
Never run a stage 2

Trainers
Run a Max Elixir to set up or risk being out paced; as such, don't fall into the trap of playing rainbow energy.
Brigette is one of the best supporters early game but terrible mid to late. Volcanion-EX kind of makes it ok mid game.
Teammates is also one of the best supporters.
Delinquent is often better then running Sky Field. You can still hit numbers on 5 bench slots if you have two double types.

Here's my list for standard right now. I'm currently using Volcanion-EX over Jirachi I flip-flop on what I think is better. I'd say Golurk is the best double type right now in the meta right now. More so for the online meta.

>this mess
Golurk is shit because you never, ever power it up over Xerneas and Mew, and if you do, it's ineffective against anything not Mega Mewtwo, which Mew does far better and far cheaper, just an Elixir and a DCE. It will get Lysandred out to stall as Golett as well. You run no stadiums, so the mons you get down are a crapshoot and depend on Brigette or your opponent playing Sky Field, which is shitty since you can drop her entirely for Sky Field and just draw into everything on turn 1. Bisharp makes Druddigon obsolete and you don't need a DCE on him either to hit for 90, and it's rotating anyway. Vespiquen can be a backup attacker, or Galvantula can sit on the bench forever and just wait for them to bench two Shaymins. Teammates are never needed, Delinquent doesn't do anything useful for you other than get around your bizarre choice not to run a stadium, and you definitely need 2 super rods to account for the times you have to ultra ball away things like Bisharp, Zoroark or any other evo/basic you can't play, at least until Karen comes out. Ninja Boy also breaks the deck since it lets you elixir onto anything and turn it into Xerneas, or simply get out the Volcanion to replace a Shaymin if you haven't drawn it. I wish it wasn't broken since the day I got to use it it was amazing.

I personally prefer fairy garden over Sky Bench. That way you don't have to use Zoroark with Bisharp, and you can make the game a tougher time for Mega Ray who can't kill a Fighting Fury Belt Xerneas with 5 benched Pokemon.

Otherwise I like that list.

Not him, but Golurk isn't there to attack, just like how you shouldn't be realistically attacking with Bisharp or Galvantula outside of a pinch. Although it's worth mentioning Galvantula can take four prizes over two turns against double Shaymin.

Don't forget Xerneas actually needs 6 types on the bench to take out non-belted EXs, and 7 to get over Belt or hit a Mega. Golurk just helps you get to that faster. Mew is definitely something I didn't even consider, though.
