I mean whats the point, it's an RPG so why would you want to cheat? Hacking in a perfect pokemon is hollow, but breeding and getting one with determination feels great. I don't really mind people who hack their pokemon for battle, but I can't stand when some asshole starts throwing random hacked mons onto wondertrade like hes doing everyone a huge favor. I don't want to cheat, and that includes getting cheated mons from people. Hell IV's would not even be that huge of a deal if hackers weren't around and the trading scene could be amazing.

the time investment makes the payoff feel a bit better

don't really have time to play video games more than once a week, so just letting the eggs hatch while my character walks around doing other shit (battling/catching/whatnot) actually lets me get more out of the game when I can actually play it

I honestly prefer just injecting the Pokemon into the game when it comes to building a competitive roster. I also know that the Pokemon are literally just bits of data stored to the game, but there's a certain 'charm' to legitimately breeding, training, and raising a team in game. I can't place my finger on it, but it's satisfying to use shit that you've actually devoted a bit of time into.
