So I never really followed the anime since I watched the Indigo League when I was a little tyke, and only a bit here and there of Johto and Hoenn. I've watched most of the movies and enjoyed most of them, but the show seems really shallow.

Now, is that an issue of translation? Is the show worth watching in Japanese or is it as shallow and stupid as the American dub makes it out to be? I only ask because I know the story depth can be a lot different between dub and sub (see: The First Movie).

I wish it would've have happened because I like YZard more than XZard, and Ash using mega evolution would have been cool. I could see why Ash won't get ME especially when the goofy yet over the top nature of Z-Power suits Ash's character more than Mega Evolution. Not to mention that Ash-Greninja and Mega Zard would be too much for anyone to handle. Z-Power suits Ash's Charizard more than Mega Evolution because it lets him retain his iconic appearance while giving him a big power boost.

Though I don't like Trevor getting YZard, I'm cool with Ash-Greninja vs XZard. XZard is pretty ugly, and I always liked the frog because he reminds me of Strider Hiryu. Greninja's FS in Sm4sh being like Strider's super in MVC3 made me like the frog even more. Helps that Ash-Greninja's battles are well animated.

They have the 4Kids dub on Netflix too. The OG dub is pretty good to be honest. 4Kids problems lie in their script and Americanization, but their VAs are usually good and can improve overtime. Case in point, Jason Griffith in Sonic Unleashed vs his performance in Sonic X.

The TCPI dub of XY is fucking disgusting and unwatchable however. 4Kids was becoming more lenient with their censorship as they allowed guns on Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds which they never did before.
