Did Pidgeotto really win zero fights? It always struck me as one of Ash's stronger Pokémon, but maybe that's just because Gust/Whirlwind was generally super effective against Team Rocket.

Maybe it's because the focus is on AshNinja or because most of his league battles are massively shorted but Ash's current team is seriously the best he's ever had and people don't give his other mons enough credit.
All his current mons can go toe to toe with legendaries and most opponents of this league aren't even a challenge to Ash.
Like not even Megas are a problem unless it's guys that are Champ tier like Alain or Dianthia.

This was his entire quarter final battle.
With his other team he struggled to even get to the quarter finals. And through this league Ash is just blazing through with only the champion favorite being a threat to him and even him Ash currently dominates. And it's not like this is a particularly easy league or that Ash got lucky with his opponents (unless you count not running into Tobias lucky) Mega evolutions prove to be extremely tough opponents so the powerlevels in this league are throgh the roof and Ash is dominating in the finals.

This is peak Ash and his peak team. Charizard can get out. Really the only weak mon in his team right now is maybe Noivern but even it defeated Zapdos so that really shows how powerful his current team is.

They obviously do matter. Legendaries are obviously ridiculously strong, and there are very few trainers who can take one out. That's pretty much why people were pretty pissed when Ash suddenly had to fight not one, but two legendaries in the League - it's ridiculous for any trainer to own two legendaries, because they are so rare and so powerful.

Pseudos are typically the strongest Pokémon typically used by a trainer, and often the ace of an E4 member.

I'm not sure. I constantly try to picture Ash using Charizard against Alain's Pokemon and I'm not really sure against which it would be a good choice. Unfezant and Weavile seem to be generally too fast for Charizard. Metagross is also way too fast. Zard vs Tyrannitar might've been a good start, but you can't really defeat it better than Pikachu did.
Then of course there would obviously be Alain's Charizard but it would just completely rape Ash's Zard, so really I'm feeling Kalos league is just not the place for Ash's Charizard.
