I just opened the Pre-Patched ROM's list, and holy shit, there's so many. Coming from a guy who has never played a Patched Rom, or ever completed a Nuzlocke, where do I start?

I couldn't get Omega to randomize, so I'm doing a randomized Fire Red. Heading into the foresr, I have

Because I can use whatever pokemon I want (ether it be catchable or their stats or buffed so they are actually useable, such as Farfetch'd,) the difficulty is increased so I can't just sweep the game easily with a single 'mon, and some quality of life changes (Such as getting items like lucky eggs in multiples, Bike earlier, etc.)
Black/White is a very apparent hack to play - Without it, the main game only contains new pokemon so playing Blaze Black greatly expands the variety of pokemon you'll encounter.

Really really slow xp grind.
It took like 2 hours just to get the team all to lvl 9.
Then remember i can turn off the animation of the moves in options.

I'm glad Nuzgen is getting more active.

Just beat the Bug Queen Sabrina, it's honestly really sad how weird the levels curve in this game. I haven't grinded this entire run and yet here I am completely over-leveled.

I noticed the latest randomizer update has a function for increasing Trainer Pokemon levels by a percentage.
I figure a nice 10% increase would be good. I'll do that with my next run, I've updated my rom a lot more in my spare time.
I might play around with making all the Gym Leaders have 6 Pokemon. Depending on how easy that is to implement.

Spike joined us today as the 4th Pokemon, no idea if he'll be of much help, I never really used Bug Pokemon before.

Fred Durst is kind of a crappy fighter, but he's only level 7 so I still have high hopes for the guy!

just got fucking demolished by Watson in a randomized Ruby :( the Parafusion + surprisingly powerful Magneton really caught me off guard.

Larry the Flareon was my strongest and longest-held, knocked himself out in confusion. Billy the Weepinbell knocked out by Shock Wave.

Last high-leveled mon is Cas the Haunter, which is pretty hard to make use of with no special moves.

Post-E4 shit.
Trained up Scizor and Gallade after Espeon and Noivern's demise at the Champion battle.
Then I went on to get the first sigil (or the 9th badge I guess) at the first sigil hall.
It was a rematch against the Dark-type Elite Four member with mid-80s mons.
MVP of the battle of Dyuke the Gallade for outspeeding and one-shotting Tyranitar and then tanking Dark Pulse from Hydreigon and also one-shotting it, both about 10 levels stronger than him.

I tried one of the taxis around Lumiose city. I had like 800 poke, and the ride would cost 700something. After the ride he told me it was 1000 poke, and started a battle due to me being out of funds.
I was actually scared this would rek my team, as I'm used to shit like Mystery Dungeon, where if you steam from kecleon's shop, you get rekt pretty hard by him and his brothers, or Yo-kai watch, where if you cross the street while the traffic lights are red you have a chance of getting some faggot come rek you pretty hard.

Finally got a team of 6, and really good typing synergy too - only problem is that most of my team's made of slow, bulky attackers. (Staravia's Brave nature too and I'm trying to EV it to be bulky). I might replace one of these depending on what I find and I think Scraggy might be first on the chopping block. Or maybe Roggenrola.

Also, I beat Lt. Surge! His "war tactics" were Supersonic + T-Wave Magnemite and Mud Slap + Charge Beam Stunfisk. Luckily Servine pulled through.

Just beat Marlon in Volt White 2.

As expected, Muncher the Snorlax could out-stall Marlon's stallmon; Ludicolo.

Politoad was easily dispatched by Konkers the Klinklang's thunderbolt. And Carracosta fell to two Sacred swords from my starter Oshi. Tentacruel proved an annoyance with rain dish and black sludge, but Droop the Hypno took him out with future sight and psycho cut

Newest member Deekle the Sawsbuck proved his worth by destroying Jellicent and surviving it's Ice Beam.

Post Vermilion update:
Route 11 wasn't particularly hard except being a bit worried about an electrician with a Kingler and a Gambler with a Sandslash .

Aes Side and Goibniu both reached lv 25 and both evolved with Haunter learning precious Shadow Punch. I've also come to the decision to keep curse to deal with wonder Guard nonsense which is present heavily in my route so far. I have a ghost backup with Duskull feel a little bit at ease.

SS Anne went smoothly until I ran into my rival who somehow acquired an Elekid with Thunder punch which brought more trouble than his volbeat,tangela and jigglypuff combined. two close calls on Macha and Goibniu in that fight.

Diglett cave: gave me a ditto enough said, But I do have a question regarding ingame trades ,since its the only one so far that's reasonable, is a taillow for a ninetales instead of the Abra for Mr mine,Do I have to hope I run into one on my first encounter on a new route even though dupe clause is in effect or am i locked out since i've already evolved mine.

Lt Surge:
5 minutes of switch hunting and the battle begun. Started with a lv 21 Lombre Fakeout on first turn, but I've so much sleep on my team I locked him out hard, the lv 18 shroomish proved to be a bother with mega drain spam. It was the unexpected Raichu replacement of a lv 24 Weezing that scared the hell out of me that I ended up sacrificing Breogan the Nuzleaf in case he Self-destructed, but had Goibniu sleep him after a bit of a sludge spam.

Next up is Rock Tunnel and I don't have enough Kanto pokemon Caught for flash so thats going to be fun.
Tm are continuing to live up to there mehh status with more non-combative moves.

Oh god, the deaths keep coming.
Pursuit is actually the worst move in the entire game. Getting crit doesn't help either.

Silver lining: I'm more motivated to train Joan Jett, despite her -Attack nature. Rock has great synergy with the rest of the team.

Brock is probably the hardest Gym Leader in the game. I never feel prepared enough for him, and he's so early that my mons don't have the moves to beat him up, especially since he's rock. Most of the other gyms you can just total with a strong stab move, but not in Pewter.

Fuck whoever thought the EXP change in Gen V was a good idea. Grinding is nearly impossible early game, since Audino don't appear yet, and there are no trainers before the first gym really. I feel a level 7 Patrat and level 7 Purrlion wont get me pass Hugh in the ranch, and getting both to 8 is going to take another 30+ minutes due to how weak the wild Pokemon are.

Beat Misty. I knew she'd have a Cloyster but luckily Servine's bulky enough to take a crit Ice Shard. Her Gyarados was surprisingly bulky though and spammed Secret Power (30% para) and Scald because Gym Leaders are very skilled players.

I actually like Meganium's stat distribution more - it's clearly meant to be a tank with decent speed and even offenses. Feraligatr's stats are kind of all over the place, its higher stats being Attack and Defence. It just ends up being a possibly mixed attacker with decent bulk and speed.

Feraligatr's better than Meganium because of its typing/movepool. And offense is generally better than defense in-game, of course.

But yeah, Meganium's generally worse than Feraligatr in-game, hack it if you want.

Are there any cool runs for Vanilla pokemon games that arent Nuzlockes?

Not that nuzlockes are too hard or anything but the rules are pretty strict so there's not much flexibility in creating new interesting runs.

I was thinking about doing a Genwun only run for X&Y. For obvious reasons a nuzlocke with this stipulation would be pretty hard. Still want to work out more rules with it.

About to start a run. Done a regular nuzlocke a few times already, so this time I'm gonna throw in some specific/arbitrary rules to mix things up a bit.

Distolocke Rules
1. Can only catch first Pokemon found in each area. If you KO it or it runs away, you miss out on a Pokemon. (Only exceptions are catching Pokemon for plot-progression, IE you need an HM slave; however, if a Pokemon in your team can learn the HM, you MUST teach it to them before catching something else.)
2. The number of Pokemon you can carry with you in your party at one time is determined by the number of gym badges you posses. Any additional Pokemon caught must be sent to your PC and cannot be taken out until you have aquired more badges.
3. Once a Pokemon is selected into a party, you cannot remove or exchange it until it faints. Once you have 7+ badges, you can switch between a predetermined set of 8 as often as you'd like.
4. If there is an NPC that wants to trade for a Pokemon you are actively using in your team, you MUST tade it.
5. You can breed only active Pokemon, the first egg produced is the only one that can be kept/hatched. The hatched egg has the option of replacing the female parent. If it does, the female parent must be released.
6. Once a Pokemon faints, it is dead. You give it away on Wondertrade (or simply release) IMMEDIATELY after battle.
7. You can only purchase items once you find/were given that item and have at least one already in your inventory.
8. Revives cannot be bought, ones found in-game can be used IMMEDIATELY on Pokemon who have fainted on the previous turn. You can only use a revive on a Pokemon once; if it faints a second time, it is dead.

Trying to decide who to put on the team for nugget bridge/Misty. I probably should have gone for an electric type in the grass of route 4 but I caught Franc the wailmer instead. Got lucky running out of repels in Mt. Moon and wound up with a bagon. Still not sure how I managed to catch it with a pokeball but Nobel joined the boxmons halfway through the caves. Neptun might go on my team eventually because I do love horsea but I'm thinking Franc the wailmer for now. He's the lowest leveled mon, but he could prove useful as a tank for if/when Cobalt manages to poison things.

Lots of close calls in the mountain but I made it out with everyone but Magnes at 1-10 health and various status afflictions.
