Okay, I have a theory, but I may be wrong. Kalos and Alola were once connected as one giant landmass. But when AZ fired the ultimate weapon, and it impacted where Anistar is currently (why the sun dial exists), and blew the Alola region off of Kalos, and it fragmented into islands.

My only hole in this theory is that Anistar is to the north of Kalos and it is cold. If Alola broke off from Kalos at that point, why would they be in the tropics, unless the islands drifted south....
