Why doesn't TPCI pander more to gen 2?

Gen 2 was horribly lacking in content, was just Gen 1.5, and had only a handful of good/memorable mons.

Gen 2's biggest contributions to the franchise were fixing the issues and glitches from Gen 1 and adding breeding.

Because they were the worst games until Gen 4 rolled around and made them worse with HGSS.

Kept getting cucked by Kanto with more Kanto mons in Johto region than Johto mons

Because Gen 2 was just Gen 1 with some fixing.

The actual Gen 2 mons got overshadowed in their own game

blue and red was the height of Pokemon's popularity and the way to print money in the entertainment industry is to pander. It's ruining a lot of other stuff too.

Gen 1 is getting new-gen 'pandering for a few reasons'

-Its huge among casuals and still revered/well-known by fans of the series. The pandering to gen 1 will likely be well-received by a lot people and make getting into the series seem more palatable for people who haven't played in a while
-Kanto hasn't had an official full game for over 10 years, taking Gen 1 Pokemon and giving them 'updates' or incorporating them into the newer games breathes life into Gen 1 and the series as a whole
-A lot of Gen 1 Pokemon are relatively simple or conservative both as a Pokemon and in terms of their design. They're a good 'testing ground' for game freak to experiment with things like megas and Alola formes.

Gen 2 was definitely significant during the Pokemon craze, but it wasn't the original generation and will always be in Gen 1's shadow regardless of which generation was better. In addition to this, HG/SS are still pretty fresh in many people's minds, were very well-received and were literally filled to the brim with content. There's no need to update or revamp most things from Gen 2, at least for the time being.
