I like him and I'm not a furry

If not for the fanbase/pushing of it by Game Freak, I would have just filed it under my "this shit is pretty bad, but I don't care enough to get irritated by its existence" folder.

I never liked it, but it constantly being shoved in my face in the games is extremely annoying. It even leaked out into other stuff like Smash bros. The design would be OK if it were new I guess, but it's not worth shoving in everyone's face imo. And it's been what, 9 years now? I'm tired of it.

The sonic-tier fanbase is unfortunate no matter how much you hate it, however.

It's too bad I can't talk about his fanbase because that means I can't bring up the guy who tainted them for me because he pretty much wrote fanfiction of himself being a rilou that, due to reasons I won't bring up because I'm pretty sure he frequents the board, I had to read, suffice it to say it heavily tainted the entire lucario evo line for me

Okay, fine, I won't talk about its fanbase.
I hate GF shoving it in my face and expecting me to care about it. I mashed A throughout the entire Lucariofest in XY.
The design bothers me, mostly the head and face. Not a fan of how they slapped a few spikes on it to excuse making it a steel type, either.
I really wish it had a head similar to the ancient Egyptian artwork of Anubis. Vaguely unsettling but it would look way cooler and more charming imo.
It has a lot of potential and I'm upset that this is what we got out of it.

Fanbase aside I think it's OK. It's not just fanfags though that are the reason for the backlash. Lucario got shoved into absolutely EVERYTHING for marketing. Which is fine if you really love him, but if you're anywhere between tepid to resentment the constant jaming him down our throats from GF/TPC made him wear out his welcome pretty fast.

I like the idea with him being kind of an anubis-style creature, but I feel like the motif got kinda.... confused halfway through. Anubis being a judge of the damned could see into a man's heart and know his sins, but Lucario is just kind of a... dog-gardevoir. Aura is kind of poorly explained as to what it is or its mechanic and it's so central to this one Pokemon's lore and NO ONE ELSES and it's not mentioned anywhere else... it feels kinda like a deviant OC's random ability to talk to cats on an otherwise normal human character. It's not like, completely beyond the realm, but it stands out in a crowd of people who's 'abilities' are things like 'always remembers to carry an umbrella'. It's not that it doesn't fit, I just feel like the concept went a little off the rails somewhere, but it was cool and kids aren't gonna ask, so fuck it, Lucario!

It's alright. Cool on its own but it's been made irritating through sheer overexposure, now it just totally lacks impression. I like it more in Smash Bros than in Pokemon.

That said, I use Mega Luke on my Doubles team, and while I'm not becoming Lucario Fan #1 or anything I'm starting to feel less hostile.

Regualr Lucario is okay, I'm pretty indeifferent toward it. Mega Lucario is awesome, though!

I used a lucario in my x playthrough and it was fine. Though it wasnt the one they gave me, it was one i rasied earlier as a riolu before i even knew they gave you one. Im glad i did too becasuse my stats were all higher than its and mine was 2 levels lower. I do find it annoying that his steel typing is kind of useless

I kinda have to mention the fanbase. I used to be a die-hard fan of Lucario.

He used to be my absolute favorite Pokemon during the early months of Generation 4. I like his design, I used him on my team through multiple runs, and about his only 2 downsides in my opinion are that he could be taller (I think he's >5'), and that he could be less fragile. He was basically a signature Pokemon for me.

But then his fanbase showed up and I eventually dropped him out of fear of being associated with those people.

Currently I don't really appreciate how much he gets shoved down everyone's throats. I half expected to be given a free one early into ORAS's story. Just sorta exacerbates the issue which is the existence of his shitty fanbase.

I haven't used him on my team since generation 4, as a result. I want to like him, but I'm one to let a mass opinion sway my own.

I like it but that's mainly because my first experience with him was with the Diamond and Pearl Demo they had in Gamestop. On the demo you already had a decent team and the lead pokemon was Lucario, so I used him and grew fond of him. And this only grew due to the fact that until BW2 and XY getting a Lucario was a late game thing which kid me never liked, so I never used one.

That being said while I like it and Riolu, I don't like the mega form. But then again I don't really like any of the Mega designs.

It's a shitty designed pokemon. Probably the worst designed one in existence.

There is no purpose to that chest spike, it has weird tumors on the back of it's head (I have no clue what else those things are actually supposed to be other than malignant tumors)

It's eyes feel look like stickers, and I don't even know why its hips are so fucking flat at the base.

It's ok.

I like it's design a lot. It has a certain beauty to it, it looks androgynous, it can easily be both a badass Pokémon and a cute Pokémon. It's stats are good, it has a good movepool and solid typing. It's overall one of my favorite Pokémon.

I liked to used it competitively in gens IV and V. Its movepool is amazing and fun to use.

One of the better gen 4 designs, pretty mediocre overall but likeable enough. His movie was good by comparison with most of the others. He's fun to play in Smash sometimes. He's a bitch to fight in Pokken.

By mandatory rules they WILL have a Pokemon from a newer gen

Mewtwo was going to be in but couldn't due to time restraints

Sonic was the one who rushed out

Pros:
-Decent design
-cool type combo
-part Steel type, which is best type
-Anubis inspired
-the aura
-pretty fun to play in Smash

Cons:
-overused by GameFreak but honestly they're just trying to create a safety-net Pokemon in case Pikachu's popularity dies

9/10, Pretty cool but not the best of the best according to my own personal tastes

Lucario is a pretty cool Pokemon, but Game Freak pushes it to much.

It bugs me that a gym leader from gen 4 and 6 both use Lucario as their "main" Pokemon. This isn't helped that they force one of the second one's Lucarios on you to get a mega evolution.

But I have a soft spot for this thing all the same.

I wish it was bi-pedal and less humanoid, desu. It's a safe color scheme being literally black and blue. It feels like Gamefreak has made it a point to make Riolu available early if you look, plus Riolu's guaranteed 3 perfect IVs because it's a baby 'mon. It makes the game really, really easy if you nab it for your team because of its solid mixed sweeping stats - but then they just hand you one anyway?? It's just a really safe design even despite being furbait.

I hated it when they kept parading it for the 10th anniversary tours but I've grown to like him since then. I'd even say he's one of my top 10 now.

I like him in smash bros

Fanbase wise I don't really care. Design wise, however...I appreciate the attempt to make an Anubis-like Pokemon, but I can't help but feel that it's a sub-par design all around. The spikes, the shorts?, the weird thingies hanging off of his head, it makes it look...messy. And yet, despite it's weirdly busy design, if it weren't for gamefreak shoving it in our faces, it'd be pretty forgettable. And then there is the weird aura powers that only seem to relate to it, the barely there steel typing...It just feels like an all-around mess.
The mega, however, is fucking banging. I have no clue how, but the mega is actually better than the main design.

Lucario is in my Top 3 favourite 'mons of all time, next to Zekrom and Zoroark. I've loved it since the day I first saw its reveal, and the spin-off games and anime only made it better (Lucario & the Mystery of Mew was fucking GOAT). Nothing will ever be able to top him. I don't care about being called a furry or an edgelord, shitposts don't get to me. GameFreak giving him love is neat, though it was way too much in XY.

The head things are just hair, but they're supposed to look like the tied off ends of its "mask". Riolu only had two because it's mask just wrapped around its face once, but Lucarios also goes over the top of its head, between it's ears, so it has more ends.

...at least, that's what ive always thought. I like to imagine if I had a real Lucario, I'd make em swing back and forth like one of those things you see on people's office desks.

And as for the spikes, I could live without the chests spike, that one seems out of place, but I like the hand one. Wish it had more that went up the side of its forearm, like those blades on the arm guards that ninja characters always wear. Then make it Fighting/Dark. Ninja Lucario ftw.
