man, a difficulty setting would be great. Could just have a flat boost to wild Pokemon levels, +1 Pokemon used by every gym leader (+2 for even higher difficulty, etc.), lots of simple ways to improve the game.

Don't know about you but I was continuously struggling to NOT level up in XY, most of the time my pokemon were 15-20 levels higher than my badge limit and I had to continuously swap out for pokemon that would listen to me.

You should not be punished for simply exploring the world and catching pokemon, the gym leaders were always a disappointment cause for the most part, if I wasn't using a brand new pokemon they were MASSIVELY unprepared to fight me.

Who cares about difficulty? It's Pokémon. It's never been hard, and it's not supposed to be. Autismos who care about that already have the whole competitive scene thing going on.
I'm ok with a "hardcore mode", but I'm gonna be really pissed if the Exp. Share gets nerfed again because of whiners who don't just simply turn it off. Not everybody likes hours of brain-numbing grinding just to keep your Pokémon levels balanced.

Either you're using traded pokemon (in which case obviously it's too easy) or you're lying. Either way, not a real problem.
The game is still really easy though.
One or two traders per game with 6 pokemon is an embarrassment, it should be standard by the 7th gym.

Never used trading for anything other than trade evolution pokemon, and filling out my dex, while I used the exp share for the latter just for pokedex completion.

I'm a completionist, I like to explore every square of the map, and made sure I didn't leave a route until I caught every new pokemon I could find, and battle every trainer available.

No stone unturned.
