When grinding, I do the following:
- Place some underleveled pokemon as the first in the team
- Place some higher leveled pokemon that could use some further training second in the team
- When the battle starts, switch to the second pokemon and finish the battle with it
- If the health bar goes yellow (<50%), heal or go to pokemon center.

Here's what goes wrong:
- Sometimes, the second pokemon is unexpectedly rekt due to some hard-hitting move from the wild.
- Fucking arena trap / shadow tag reks the underleveled pokemon

I can avoid arena trap / shadow tag by simply going to areas that don't have wobbuffet or trapinch, but I still suffer from unexpected (and quite enfuriating) deaths due to hard-hitting wilds.
How could I gind better while ensuring there's no casualties?

Well lads, Y Nuzlocke is over, turns out forgetting to heal after a gym battle and Battling Lysandre with no Pokemon with over 50hp isn't a great idea, especially when you have 0 electric moves for Gyarados.
I'm thinking about continuing with my team but not playing blind since I keep going in under leveled and getting fucked by coverage at most bosses

Post Bill Update:
I got cocky while grinding and Fionn Mc Cool got wrecked by a Slowpoke and trying to level Breogan has him relegated to bench duty until I get cut for him. Driving me mad he is.

Aes Side didn't evolve until 24 which brought much frustration and leveling Medbh only raised that frustration further.

Macha and Niamh are absolute monsters at the moment they both have been two shotting most trainers and Sengann is a glass cannon.

I'm actually very worried about how brittle my team is Vigoroth would of been handy with his slack off but Nuzlocke god smited him hard.
A speed tie with a Wynaut was nothing but disaster.

I want to try making an ORAS nuzlocke based on the "sneak" feature. Calling it a "Solid Snakelocke" or something.

>you are NOT allowed to be spotted by another trainer (unless it's impossible)
If you get spotted you must turn off the game immediately and revert to your last save. Unless you're save scumming you'll probably loose a fair bit of progress but you dont have to drop the run because of it.

Back in action! I was at a smaller convention this weekend. Lotta pokemon fans.

Every once in a while, I try to start a new one.
I get distracted/lose my notes almost every times.(Notes are for in case I actually finish and want to make an attempt at a comic)

I think the ones that I could Nuzlocke are Y, W2, B2, Plat, or SS. I DO have access to Dream Radar, so I usually try w2/B2 for the exra mon at the start, but I dunno what to go with this time. I'm not too fond of the gen 5 starters.

And I did it, failure after failure, I beat my first Nuzlocke! And it was a blind run, too.

It was not without a loss though, Lulu activated the Focus Sash on her Haxorus and took a Dual Chop after Iris pulled off Dragon Dance, and Corey managed to tank just enough for a Haze debuff into Acrobatics.

It was a combined effort of Serperior + Dewgong stalling against her Lapras, and Gliscor taking out the Aggron, but I really don't think this would have been possible without her. In some weird twist of fate, Axew was the last available capture I could find before heading out into Victory Road.

Just thought of this one

Waifulocke
-Can only catch female pokemon
-After every gym (and after the credits if you're playing through the post-game), one of your pokemon must be designated as the "Waifu"
-The Waifu must stay in your party at all times
-The Waifu is the only pokemon that can have hold items and the only pokemon that you can use any items on (TMs, potions, vitamins, battle items, etc.)
-No other pokemon should be a higher level than the Waifu (if you just designated a Waifu that is a lower level, immediately grind it up)
-The Waifu must participate in all Gym Leader/Elite 4/Champion battles
-If the Waifu dies, you lose
-If the Waifu ever becomes infatuated, it is permanently boxed and you must designate a new Waifu
-Whenever a new Waifu is set, the old Waifu must be boxed permanently

Doing a nuzlocke in red, just got to victory road. My team is around lv 40-50, im trying to find places to grind. Victory road kinda sucks for this because of the abundance of machop and geoduse. Where do I go?

Just completed a run for Pokemon Red.

If you have type coverage for all of the Elite 4 and Blue, you can win with as low level Pokemon as ~LV45. I went in with level 49-50 mons and only lost one or two pokes.

That being said, if you're using an emulator, you should just be able to stay at victory road, turn on a Fast-Forward feature, and just minimize the time it takes to grind.

Luck mostly. I turned Eevee into Espeon because it was Calm. The only exception was Staraptor. He started off Bold, but there is an NPC that lets you change the nature of one of your mons to Adamant only once, so I gave that to him. Only other similar NPC I've run into was a Sassy nature changer.

Currently doing a Nuz in vanilla Heart Gold and Platinum
Platinum is great but holy shit vanilla HGSS is shit for nuzlockes.
Garbage encounter levels means garbage XP yields. Like 2 of my mons are decent levels. Why the fuck is everything level 2-6 until after the forest? I cant fight Whitney with this team, but grinding is taking forever.

Flannery's Torkoal is actually stupid. Parattract is actually unbreakable and the only non-male member of my team is Koffing who dies to a Flamethrower anyways. This strategy is second only to Sand Veil + Sand Attack/Mud Slap + Double Team in the desert.

Anyways, I might actually teach Combusken Overheat seeing as Ember sucks and I might want him to end up being a physical attacker + Overheat.

But hopefully Combusken will evolve soon so I can solo dad with Double Kick. On another note, Koffing learned Smokescreen which might be a potential strategy to beat dad's ape.

Pre Vermillion Update:
Misty fight was pretty interesting to say the least "Water Pokemon" my ass. Whips out a Voltorb with sonicboom and soundproof, started wittling my pokemon down had to switch twice to Macha just bring it down. Misty then pulls out an Altaria ,two shot it with Sengann.

Route 5 and 6 pretty uneventful until I bumped into Motherfucking Bug Catcher Elijah with lv 20 sableye, fury swipes, night shade took me at least 3 switch outs to bring the thing down.

My randomized Tm have been nothing but disappointment and Breogan will continue to sit there until I get him a reliable move.
Will probably need to expand template as I'm coming up to the catchaton of old rod plus route11/diglett cave.

My rivals only scary pokemon is a Kirlia and I hope I can one shot it like last time.

This is blind, BTW. No idea what to expect but the game's starting off easy by giving Snivy an Oran Berry.

A few things I've noticed so far:
- Phys/Spec split's in this.
- Has pokemon from Kanto to Unova.
- Tackle's 40 BP and 100% accuracy which is a compromise between Gen III and Gen V, iirc. So I expect a bunch of edited moves and such.
- Snivy's backsprite isn't very good.

This is just me but I don't understand the idea of Nuzlocking romhacks/randomizers, I think it's weird, the entire point (at least for me) is that you're doing a runthrough of games you've previously played before, and implementing unique stipulations to make the vanilla game stand out in a different way.

Or at least that's the impression I got from the original comic, it's literally giving Ruby version a self-imposed "hard mode," but with these romhacks you're basically playing a new game so the stipulations for a unique experience seem redundant.

Then again this is coming from a guy that's only beaten one vanilla Nuzlocke so...

After realizing Sheara was 1 level off evolving I decided to grind it up before fighting Cheren.
Was a challenging gym indeed, especially that Munchlax and the amount of times this fucker uses stockpile/Work up to try fuck you up with Tackle is crazy.

However with Parahax and bad metronome rolls on his part I pulled through, finishing his Munchlax with Harpie after he put Sheara to sleep.

Question. Are there consequences to starting a new game in X and saving over the old game? I plan to Bank all my mons in it to a Nuzlocke run in it and wonder if there is anything Online-Wise I would end up losing.
