Why did Tierno's Blastoise never get a Mega Evolution? Every other main character in the Kalos league got a next level ace. Even Trevor had that weak ass Charizard Y. A Mega Sceptile v. Mega Blastoise showdown would have made Tierno's battle with Sawyer far more interesting.

I don't understand why that makes the writers hesitant. They would just need to make Siebold's Blastoise be clearly stronger. Kind of like how Flint's Infernape destroyed Ash's Infernape.
