When a Pokémon faints it can't continue battling. Just because the games are piss easy now that your team never faints doesn't give you the right of not knowing what a fainted Pokémon look like.

The swirly eyes are a physical manifestation of a fainted Pokemon. They hover over their heads as pure swirly darkness. What, would you really expect a creature's eyeballs to spaghettify and arrange in a spiral fashion just because they're too tired to fight? how would that even work?
