What's a monster house?
I just started playing PSMD, having never played or cared for any other MD games in the past.
Got to the part where the vice principal gets spooked and I feel like giving up, it's just not fun to play. When does the game start getting fun and/or challenging? It feels like a massive chore.

I never stuck around to find out what that was (also last played a PMD game years ago), mind enlightening me?

You get a few warnings to get off the current floor and if you don't a little while after the third warning you faint and fail the dungeon

Once school is over, the game gets exponentially more fun.

Fail threats are standard for Roguelikes, it's supposed to keep you moving forward so you don't linger around on one floor forever.
Play any others and you'll notice similar events if you stick around for too long on one floor.
