Who cares? If it's a good game with fun mon and decent designs, I don't give a shit. I played gen 1 when it came out, some of the designs are total garbage but I have payed every gen when it released and 1 has a special place in all of our hearts because it was the first. Let them pander. My favorite is Beheeyem, but if I get an Alolan Scyther, he may return as my favorite again.

Don't take Pokemon, a children's game, too seriously.

I'm hoping some other gens get some attention even though Gen 1 is my favourite generation .

But I can see why they might be Pandering to Gen 1.
It's the 20th Anniversary, Obviously there's going to be a lot related to the first games.
And Most People are more familiar with Gen 1, It's a smart business move to have these pokemon in the Games as It attracts more users. Just look at Pokemon Go, It wouldn't have done as well if it wasn't Gen 1 Pokemon.

There really isn't any gen 1 pandering here. Quite the opposite really.
Most major gen 1 fans I've talked to don't like Sun and Moon because everything is different to them. There aren't gyms. There isn't an established Pokemon League. Even the Alolan forms take familiar Pokemon and make them unfamiliar. This is the most radically different game from gen 1 we've ever had. I wouldn't call it pandering in the slightest.
