The games can go in two directions. 3D is cool but i'd like a in between game to be 2D. Maybe for Gen 7.5 or 8.5.

Though I do find myself wishing Game Freak was tasked with doing a new game with sprite based graphics. That's where they shine, and I feel it was wrong of Iwata RIP to force Game Freak to make the jump to 3D in the first place.
