Gen 2 got fucked hard because it was out around the end of the fad. It's remembered as the acceptable sequel by the Geewunners, but very few of its Pokemon are really remembered by people.

It's my favorite in the entire series and even I admit I struggle remember all of it's Pokemon.

Those games were more about the journey than the catching.

Tauros being rare as fuck was the reason everybody knew about him, and one of the reasons people wasted so much money on Safari zone. It's also infamous for magically appearing at Oaks lab in the anime since the episode where Ash caught it wasn't aired. And of course it was one of the most used pokemon in the RBY metagame.

I played RBY plenty. I never really got a Farfetch'd unless I was trying to catch 'em all. Fly wasn't needed much, so I could just keep a pidgey around and teach it Fly, and keep that in the box until I needed it. Cut I usually taught to a random grass type.

What made Farfetch'd memorable was that it was an extremely early in-game trade, using a Pokemon you were almost certain to have. Hearing the name was surprising, since it wasn't a Pokemon you had prior. I still think of it as "DUX" because of that.
