It's the only typing for fungus that makes sense. Not all fungai are poisonous after all. Besides, the typings aren't literal interpretations. Sandshrew is a Ground-type, but it's not actually made of earth.

That makes no sense.

First of all, Normal isn't even an "animal" type. Several animal-like pokémon are a variety of types.

Second of all, fungi are only closer on a genetic level, which means dick. They behave similarly to plants enough that their study was considered to be part of botany for a long-ass time.

And again, the typings aren't an exact scientific breakdown. Grass encompasses plant-like pokémon regardless of their real world taxological classifications.

Morelull evolves into Enchantrelle which is Grass/Fairy. It will make more sense when you see the evolution. It is based off Fairy Rings.
