Not gonna lie... you think the quality of this battle would have been pretty high considering this was the "Grand Finale". Instead it's basically like every other battle Ash has been in up to this point. While I would imagine Greninja vs Mega Charizard X should deliver, I can't help but feel like this was an utterly disappointing league as a whole. I'm a Pikachu fan as many can attest to, but even I find it ridiculous that he had barely any trouble vs Tyranitar and basically thought of Metagross as an annoyance. For a league dedicated to showcase the Kalos Pokemon, it sure did a crappy job when Pikachu alone has 4 known wins while the next best is Greninja with 2 (4 if it beats both Bisharp and Charizard). The birds were glossed over, Noivern got treated like ****, and Goodra is pointless as ****. The only redeeming quality at this point would be for Ash to win and even then I've said it before, it feels like it's just a pity win because nothing feels like he had to work for it.

XY is faster paced thatn DP so it works better. This is good pacing. It proved that dragging a fight out has no inherent benefit to raising the hype. This episode had the same if not more amount of hype packed into one part than most of the moments in stretched out across multiple.

Longer =! quality, and XY has done this from the start. It wouldn't fit to suddenly change its pacing to past gens.

It is when its packed with excellent budget and smart moves by Ash. Him taking out Tyranitar with his brains is perfect and nothing else is needed. It's quick, its effective, and it shows Ash's progression without drawing us out. Notice that crowed reaction is kept to a minimum so the action isn't broken up? It's relentless action. Dragging this across more parts would just give us more people explaining types and other nonsense we already know about. You can disagree but to me all your saying is you can't keep up and need everything slower paced, or just think longer is better.

I agree longer of XY quality would have been great, but realistically that isn't possible with the animation quality they already have. It's not perfect pacing, but it's far better and engaging than before.

But whatever, I don't see you changing your mind anytime soon. I'm just saying XY has gotten the reception it has for a reason, and simply attributing it to the animation quality without considering the pacing would be wrong.
