Which is better, /vp/ ?

Sage has better designs and spritework but Uranium is better for actually being finished instead of perpetually in soon(tm) status

We're almost done with a graphical overhaul up through the first gym.

Sage Sundays are pretty much Not happening since we only have boring shit like implementation and dialogue left. Andante lighthouse should get a Sunday when thats Finished though.

Been playing through Uranium since release. Really impressed so far, feels like a genuine Pokemon game EXCEPT for many of the designs being mediocre, and there's quite a bit of framerate issues.

Gyms are a bit of a challenge to solve, leaders aren't just one type, but a bit of a mix. There are HM machines you can get later on to do the work of tedious HMs like Rock Smash.

I recommend Uranium. Find some fakes that you like the design of, and you're golden.

I've only seen the dex for Sage, but it's far better quality in terms of Pokemon design. And it also has more Pure type pokemon, whilst almost every fake in Uranium is dual-typed which is a bit annoying.

I liked it better when I still had hope. Very few cases where an unfinished game was objectively better than the finished product, this is one. Another would be Spore ;_; or more recently NMS.

The problem with fangames is that nobody wants to take any liberties. Pokemon fangame devs follow such a by-the-book formula that if you've played one you may as well have played them all.

>the professor gives you a fire/grass/water type starter. Your rival's starter is your starter's immediate weakness
>you have to go from town to town battling gym leaders for a badge
>the region has every biome shoved into it
>the region will start you out with the usual early region rodent/bug/bird
>there's always 8 badges in total. No more no less.

>also if the dev has a favorite pokemon, they'll shove it in your face

Reborn, Insurgence, and Snakewood don't even break the habit of halting your progress to have you battle a gym leader. It baffles me how fangame devs haven't come up with better ways to have you encounter bosses than that.

I can only think of two fangames off the top of my head that don't follow the formula, and I'm not sure if either of them are finished.

It's bad enough that Gamefreak's been using this same formula for 20 years but I'd expect more from fans.

I don't understand how an entire community can be so uncreative. Is Pokemon the only thing these people know?
