Stayed away from spoilers and finally saw the episode. Great battle, but not on the same level as the first part(s) of Ash vs Paul.

What I disliked the most is the fact that Alan just entered the league as an afterthought and don't really care whether he wins this finals match or not. Sadly this just kills the excitement for me. It's the finals, yet it doesn't feel like anything is on the line. I just get this "casual battle" feeling and things don't feel intense at all.

The matches themselves weren't really that interesting imo. There's no mid-match-major-threat for Ash to overcome (like Paul's Drapion) and many of the matchups felt like they went by too quickly. Major full battles like this really need those three episodes...

I have a feeling that Pikachu and Charizard scene is going to play a very important role in Greninja's victory. Right when Greninja forms that gargantuan orange shuriken, Alan will flip out a la Shota, and probably tell Charizard to dodge. That thunderbolt which made its knee give out will prevent it from doing so.

I kinda hope this is the case. Pikachu mascot powers and pandering aside, if Ash wins this league, it would make sense to have his 20 year old partner mon be a large asset to the league victory. And I'm talking as a Greninjafag.
