They would always, without exception, benefit from an evolution or a pre-evolution.
Salandit is my favorite gen VII mon so far, and I guarantee you it won't turn out to be kawaii - you can tell he's meant to look "tough". I really do hope he doesn't go bipedal, but I reckon this is asking too much.
