Twineedle is a Beedrill exclusive. Beedrill is a horrible Pokemon that's weak to Psychic.

Pin Missile had 14 base power. On an average of 3 hits that's a less-than respectable 42 base power, times 4 is a decent 168 base power...But only Beedrill and Jolteon learn it. Jolteon has low Atk but could admittedly make use of Pin Missile to take out Grass-types.

Still, the point was that gen I had almost no bug moves worth using. Jolteon's (very) niche use of Pin Missile does not change that, and its low base power combined with Jolteon's low attack hardly lets you 'sweep'.

All of the Kanto games have somewhat limited options for taking down Psychics, at least during your average playthrough.

It got better in the remakes but you're still out of bug moves for the most, and the only ghost types are weak to psychic, AND its pre split so Gengar and Haunter can't even STAB that hard with the ghost moves. And the "National Dex" shit takes away your dark types until after the game.

So your basically just biting though Sabrinas gym with Gyarados. Or just taking your Charizard/Blastoise and abusing Flamethrower/Surf.

I wasn't the one to originally suggest a bug as part of the sweep fyi, but was mostly making the case that Beedrill certainly does a number on the Venusaur/Exeggutor: I always used one each run and it would always take down the grass Pokemon at the end of each run easily. Of course it's a risk vs. Alakazam and I don't ever remember my Beedrill bringing one down, Venusaur and Exeggutor were easy pickings.
