Explain what a Pokémon is supposed to look like
Animals.
Objectfags BTFO
A monster taking inspiration from a real life creature or idea (possession)

It's supposed to look like a design that I personally like.
Childlike wonder
>>27669450
shit man you told them
>>27669437
Whatever Game Freak thinks it should look like.
Plants, animals, or mythical creatures.
Humanoids are fine if fighting/ghostpsychic type
I used to believe objects were okay if ghost type, but the sand castle is too fucking much. At least previous posessed objects had a haunted house theme, but now literally whatever object the fucking developers pick at random is now a spooky ghost pokemon.

Anything my mom has ever owned.
>>27669437
Literally anything. I would even accept a Pokémon based on shoelaces if GF made it. After all, they always make great backstories that perfectly justify the Pokémon's existence. All Pokémon are great.
Except for Muk and Voltorb, of course. They're unoriginal as fuck and only autistic genwunners like them.

EXEGGCUTE ARE SEEDS, NOT LITERAL FUCKING EGGS YOU IDIOT
DO YOU THINK PINECO IS LITERALLY A PINECONE DO YOU THINK VANILUXXE IS LITERALLY ICE CREAM??? YOU STUPID FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT
>>27669544
>>27669544
So what if Exeggcute are seeds instead of eggs? Both those things aren't animals. Eggs are closer to being animals, as a matter of fact.

>Jigglypuff
>Clefairy
>Mr. Mime
>Geodude
>Magnemite

Because there's a de facto understanding that plants don't fall under the "inanimate object trash" category because otherwise almost every grass type would be considered inanimate object trash, and plants are living things
>>27669512
Sandcastle is the house
>mind=blown
>>27669719
>implying plants are living things
>Pokemon Lore has it so that they've long made mechanical Pokemon for a long time
>Magnemite were probably intentionally manmade constructs along with the Klink line
>Magearna might have been the "first" application of this, if not Golurk and the Regis.
I have no problem with this
>>27669719
>plants are living things
>but eggs aren't
>>27669535
100% agree.
>>27669450
Gen 1 didn't always had animals, anon.

Like I said, plants are okay, or else you can just scrap most grass types. Have your "plants are alive or not" debate somewhere else.

Damn am I the only one who likes muk and grimer? I really have no problem with an animated pile of sludge. Oozes and other liquid type monsters are well developed in a number of different fantasy settings.
>>27669860
Plenty of people don't, just because it is such an incredibly ingrained JRPG trope. People just throw Grimer/Muk under the bus because anyone who criticizes a recent pokemon MUST be a genwunner, and gets indirectly labeled as such. They could easily pick swalot as a pile of sludge to devil's advocate with, but they always immediately jump to Muk/Magnemite/Electrode even all of those are based off of extremely established tropes
>>27669935
*plenty of people do
>>27669860
>>27669935
I think you got the wrong idea or at least the ones using them as examples are coming off the wrong way. Those people aren't throwing them under a bus, they're bringing them up to say "If ___ Pokemon was bad for doing that, why was Grimer and Magnemite okay back then for the same thing."
The point is calling out selective enforcement, not saying those Pokemon designs were bad.
