Ash went back to Kanto alone which is why he stopped by the Viridian Gym and battled against of the Elite 4.

May and Max went back to Petalburg and May leaves her Beautifly/Skitty there for a while. Brock briefly returns to Pewter for the millionth time.

Then they all reunite in those Pallet Town eps after the Hoenn league, and its the last time Misty appears too. Ash decides to take Phanpy with him and that's where May gets her Squirtle.

It's not fine when it takes so long to charge it, at least during daytime. They kinda made it clear during her fight against Ash-Greninja since all she used to attack was Shadow Ball.

Hyper Voice would be perfect because not only it's more powerful, you can't really cut through the move like Greninja does with Cute or Aerial Ace. Thunderbolt would be neat too, and she has that in the games.
