Guys, I have a theory.
The theme for this generation is... stars and constellations.
First off, the games are Sun & Moon, that should be the first hint.
The starters correspond to the constellations Sagittarius (Robinroot), Siren (Sirene), and Leo (Beltigre).
Other revealed Pokemon could also possibly correspond to other constellations.
>Nuikoguma --> Ursa Minor
>Bewear --> Ursa Major
>Rockruff--> Canis Minor
>Weruff --> Canis Major
>Drampa --> Draco
>Salandit --> Lacerta
>Mudbray/Mudsdale --> Northern/Southern Donkey
>Yowashi --> Pisces
>Delphin/Porprise --> Delphinus
Others have to do with the night sky.

>Malshadow may be an eclipse.
Again, this is all just speculation and something that popped in my head ten minutes ago, but I wanted to know what you guys think.
