I hatched a shiny pichu yesterday and traded it for a Xerneas today. Currently trying to hatch a shiny Eevee with charm move so I can evolve it into a shiny Sylveon.

LIterally Just entered nameless cavern, thought I might start shiny hunting and had a Look who was there right now. And it was a fucking SHINY Azelf on first check. So I guess this is my first true random shiny.

Wasn't ready though and had a shit level'd team other than a level 50 blazi so had a to use a masterball for the first time ever. Did I fuck up?

I wish 600+ was a small number to me now, but shiny hunting in gen 3 and 4 has taught me that anything less than 5000 is a godsend. Flipped my shit when I get a shiny Chikorita in less than 3000 SRs recently. Just don't give up Anon, watch shows/videos or listen to music in between, it helps if you don't think about the numbers until you've caught it. I have a clicker so I just mindlessly press the button in tandem.

Back on topic: I'm about 2300+ on game corner Abra in SS and another 2k on Raikou in OR. Dual hunting is confusing sometimes, but I stopped triple hunts at least.

In most cases, no. As far as I know, the only time you know it's shiny BEFORE entering battle is in HG/SS. And maybe X/Y, by checking the summary after the cutscene.

If you're talking about mirage points or whatever, I don't believe there's any hard evidence to back that up. Some people get theirs in under a hundred, some get it after thousands.

However, all pokemon in gen 6 have their shiny rates doubled. So 1/4096 rather than 1/8192.
