If they add a Greninja that can sync with the player that is great. But if they just add the same forme from the anime, If they use the same design that has the markings of Ash's clothes and colors. Then you are still getting Ash-Greninja, it doesn't matter if the mention Ash or not.

I don't what a sync mon that is bonded to another trainers appearance. This is Game Freak we are talking about, so what do you think will happen? If the Greninja they give us is traded, it would have already formed a strong bond with Ash or whoever. So it wouldn't make sense syncing with a new trainer. And even if it does it wouldn't make sense syncing with a new trainer but still looking like Ash.

If they just give us a Froakie/Greninja that is 'special', and it bonds with the player character, but the sync form still looks like Ash-Greninja then it defeats the whole purpose of the form.

They can keep the main parts of the design, but the elements that make the form look like Ash doesn't make sense if the Greninja isn't bonded with Ash anymore. syncro is a combination of the trainer and the pokemon, and last time I checked we won't be able to play as Ash.
