The anime could have done the same and ditched Satoshi a long time ago. They could very well let the Sun & Moon anime be its own anime, just like they could have made the Black and White and X and Y anime be their own things. But no, they just have to force Satoshi as the protagonist.

You know, kind of like the Pokemon games with each new generations. I just wish they would do the same with their anime.

I can't help but find it jarring whenever they transition into a new generation of pokemon, without it being through a new series but instead just a continuation of the old one. I mean fuck, not only do they refuse to start fresh and a new series out of the anime, they won't even let Satoshi age in spite of having used him for literally two decades. They're well overdue when it comes to starting fresh. Something they appear to understand when it comes to the games, yet they won't apply the same treatment to their anime.

How would replacing Ash not be an objectively good thing? Ash has no redeeming qualities, he's generic as hell and has no potential to ever develop as a character because Pokémon is meant to go on forever and he has to continually get reset.

I do feel glad for Ashnimefags if Ash finally wins one and becomes a master like it seems to be playing out.

Why bother? Skip the introductions, swap out the side characters, and just get to the meat. Just imagine that it's a different character who happens to also be called Ash and looks similar if it triggers you all so much. There's no value in replacing him.
