I just hatched two 5k eggs... both 700cp ponyta. Hatched like an hour apart. There are tons of them in the wild here why can't I get cool stuff?! Also now my three highest non-evolved mons are all ponyta...

You don't even have to scan at Flushing Meadow Park there are like 40-50 pokestops in the whole park, you can just wander around aimlessly and catch ridiculous amounts of Charmander. They're so common they even pop out of the lures and the lures are going at all times.

Hello.

I am not really interested in playing Pokemon Go, but I know for a fact that the grocery store down my block is a "gym." I wish to be in control of this gym (and only this one) as often as possible. But, again, I am not really interested in spending time on mobile games.

So, are there any bots for this game? Ones that train your Pokemon by themselves or whatever? Or something that just gives you Pokemon that you choose from, maybe a couple of strong ones? Don't mind either way, and don't care about "capturing" everything, just want a something to get that gym. Thanks in advance.

You know what I miss most when I play this game?

It's not the lack of battling directly with trainers. It's not the inability to train Pokemon. It's not the simplification of the battle system, type advantage, and moves in general.

It's that I don't have a regular six that feel like "my" Pokemon. I just have this list of nearly 200 Pokemon that changes a bit whenever I get a new high CP Pokemon that ends up on the first page.

I take back every bad thing I've said about 2k eggs.

So, apparently I'm a moron. I don't understand either the gym system or the idea of training pokemon at all.

As I understand it, a gym defended by less than, say, 4 trainers is basically defenseless, as even an opponent with shit pokemon can defeat it by sheer strength of numbers by throwing 6 pokemon at the at-most-3 defenders. A larger gym is more of a challenge, but even that can be overpowered with brute force just by bringing a couple of friends and gangrape the defenders. Meaning that holding a gym for any length of time is largely a matter of luck, it depends on no attackers actually deciding to get serious and fuck you up. Is that right?

Challenging friendly gyms seems entirely fucking pointless. Is there anything in it for the attacker? Yeah, it will get you 50xp per defeated defender, big whoop; you can get that far easier by hitting pokestops, with the extra benefit that you don't burn through your potions. If you do enough challenging that you can... join the gym and hope you catch some coins before a party of attackers decides it's rape time?

And what's with getting pokemon to CPs? If I understand correctly, you can't actually train your pokemon (despite all the catchy blurbs saying that's what gyms are for), and the only thing you can do is burn candies and/or star dust to bump your CP. So how do you get those CP2000 monsters? It appears my Pidgeots don't get much higher than CP800 at my level 14. Does that mean that I need to be over level 30 to get myself some high end pokemon? Or is the answer that Pidgeot is simply shit tier and useless for fighting no matter how many resources you burn, and I need to find myself a nice source of Dratini or other high end stuff in order to get myself that fighting machine?

Pidgeots are terrible, yes. As you level up, you will encounter pokemons with higher CP. I'm level 24, I didn't start seeing 1000+ mons til I hit level 15, and I just caught my first 2000+ mon last week when I was still at level 22.

Mostly pointless, but you do get XP for training against mons that have higher CP than your lone attacker. You can pick one with a type advantage and half the rank of the lowest defender and just clean up for a while while you boost the gym, and when the gym levels up you can drop one of your own in there and claim some pokecoins to buy things with. Throw in a weak one if you just want the immediate 10 coins, or a strong one if you want to try to occupy other gyms for more coins. You can claim up to 10 gyms per 20 cycle. That's one real world dollarydoo worth of pokecoins if you know what you're doing.

Pidgey isn't useful for battling (unless you get one that's like 300+, then it may evolve into a 1000 Pidgeot which can be somewhat helpful for beating the rare Grass types in the meta)

You get like 25XP for every victory in a friendly gym, but 100XP for every win in a rival gym, plus a 50XP bonus if you beat every rival. If you live in an area with a lot of gyms it adds up, but make sure you have plenty of potions.
