What's a good amount to have ready pokemon to evolve when you drop a lucky egg?

I think I have 50 or 60 right now, but I'm not sure if I can evolve more or not. I wanna spend the entire time evolving

Just caught my first Electabuzz and Poliwhirl tonight, albeit both ~150CP and meh IVs. Well, it's a start.

Not really other than you didn't maximize your time.

Try to catch more easy mons and have the right amount of candy to level them all up. Most efficient is pidgey/weedle/caterpie. I might be missing something but those are the ones near me that I use. Try and cram as much as you can when you batch evolve. Do as much as your poke storage willn allow and have everything set up and ready to go prior to using the egg.

If you're really good at timing have your lucky eggs near hatching time. I try to sync up my 2k eggs by putting them all on incubators at the same time.
On top of that go to your most dense poke stop so you can get double xp spinning for shit and hopefully people have lures on so you can also catch mons if you have time at the end.
Cram it all in there.

XP, Stardust and candies gained based on CP instead of current system, so instead of just 100 XP for all pokemon, say, a CP 500 Pokemon nets you more XP, stardust and candies than a CP 10 one.

More stardust and candies when evolved and more powerful pokemon are transferred.

Gyms give out more rewards for winning battles.

Frankly, setting up more Pokestops in cafes, resturants, pubs and bars, bookstores, ect, something so that people have better central locations to cool off and have a drink or hang out before getting back out there.

Most of this probably could be summed up with making it less grinding and more rewarding, but I guess they'll do the opposite of that to make sure people buy up shit.

I don't know, lately the pokemon giving me the most fits have been the weak pidgeys and weedles. Like I'm capturing CP 200 staryus and drowzees are no problem with pokeballs, but it seems like it's all going haywire for pidgeys and weedles, even sub 100 ones are taking 3-4 pokeballs and then running away. Apparently the capture thing is broken right now from what I'm hearing though.

it's not even from conquering a gym, it's from either becoming the leader or a defender. I've had multiple battles where I've managed to clean out the entire gym's stock (albeit with the help of other folks around), but I never got the chance to put my Pokemon in to claim or defend the gym, though that's partly team-related. If you got coins from winning gym battles, that might be better. Though it might also remove the need to buy them with real money. I dunno.

True, which is worse, so even if you win, you don't get anything. You only get anything if you beat them and actually stick your own flag on it to be able to get anything.

And you get virtually nothing for all that, it's pointless. You can swing by a couple of pokestops and come out with 10x what you would get for anything at a gym for 1/10th the effort.

Is it still a good idea to power level considering that catching pokemon gets a lot harder after level 20? I live in a small town so my farming capacity is very small. Or should I just grind down all my Pidgeys and hope that the few pokemon I manage to catch are a good level?

There should be bonuses for gym defense, not just gym capture. The longer you hold a gym, the more of a bonus you get.

Say 1 coin every 10 minutes with a minimum cap of 10 coins. It would encourage people to battle more and essentially guard gyms. Though for this to work they'd have to sort gyms out, because its so unrealistic to hold a gym for any period of time. Because of how easy it is to take them out.

when they are banned it would be neat to see it all balanced better. Right now training a gym up gives you 1 pokemon and battling a rival gym gives you 6 pokemon to do it with. So you're already working at 1/6th the strength, that means if youre standing at a gym trying to battle the prestige up you have literally no chance of doing it should one person turn up to battle it down.

Gym defense and holding is a joke right now, but it could be a lot better with balance. As for trying to hold a gym solo, the entire point of the above is to encourage other people to help you hold gyms together. Right now there's no point in that. If I see a level 5 gym in my teams colour, most of the time I'd rather wait until it gets taken down, because I know its going to be easier to battle my way into a rival gym than to train new spots in the old gym.

The whole thing is kinda shoddy and needs a revamp.

Neither, Pidgeot was the meta of week one, people have better shit now. The moveset is randomized each time a poke evolves, so that isn't an indicator of which one to keep.

What you can do with your Pidgeys is keep collecting them until you have 60 or so and enough candy to evolve every single one of them. Then once the game gives you a Lucky egg, you activate it and evolve them all for 1000 xp per evolution.

Some pokemon just have shit CP scaling. A growlithe will get over twice as much CP from a single 50 candy evo (900-1000 growlithes are 2200+) whereas Ponyta just gets like half it's current CP. I think 1000-1100 Ponytas are like 1600-1700 tops when they become Rapidash. All the bug types have shit CP scaling.

Vape is not that good anymore and Arcanine with Bite and Fireblast is good for attack, everyone leaves Lapras and Vaporeon because they're the poor mans option for good defense, Polywrath and Exeggutor are better than Vaporeon actually, not like it matters when you can get raped by 6 shitmons even if you're guarded by 3 500 CP shitmons, just get 6 decent fast attacks on 6 different pokemans with decent CP and you're good to go, leave 10 CP pidgays on gyms and claim the bonus as fast as you can

It starts mattering when they have lvl 10 gyms but yeah, 6 and under gyms are easy enough. I chose Valor and my town has five mystic lvl 10 gyms with lvl 30+ players and when I have a lot of leftover healing items, I spend like an hour and a half grinding it down.

Even with half the ones I try to catch running away I'm still having a good time.

At lunch today I took down level 4 gym with the unexpected help of some mystic chick who's friend jumped in and claimed it right away, so I took them down too. They came right back and knocked me out, but we were all screwing around with ~1k mons and I was back in after a few minutes. Then some valor fag popped up and grabbed it. The mystics bailed so I beat him too, then left my little 11cp karpbro in there and trained it up to level 3 in case anyone felt like jumping in to defend for a while after I left. They must have, because it was over an hour before he got kicked out. It was that or pity.

Also this dude showed up, I haven't run across one yet. Took six balls but that's because my aim was shit and I missed four times.
