DP was so fucking boring. Paul episodes were the only good thing about the show. It was such a huge step down from AG.

Dawn's rivals were especially awful after May had two really great ones. They tried later on to imitate Harley and it fell flat on it's face. Brock is literally just there in the worst way possible. Worse than it was with Cilan in BW. It was like they were afraid to let go of him.

It has it's moments here and there but over all I would take BW. At least BW never put me to sleep.

But hey it's not Johto. It had that going for it. Fuck the Johto anime.

I think there's a miscommunication here. I'm saying that Chronicles is canon, as is Legend of Thunder, but the movies are dubiously not, since the male protagonists' designs are often taken by Ash (Red, Lucas, Hilbert, Calem,) and game rivals that don't appear instead can have their characters mixed into an anime-original character like Paul, Conway, or Astrid.

Jimmy is and always has been canon. Ethan dubiously isn't. Same goes for Paul and Silver.
