I named my Magikarp "FisherKing" because it popped into my head.
Turns out it's a character from Authurian Legends so now I have a naming theme.

Usually just shortened, slightly modified, or the closest human name of the mon. Kind of like what they do in Adventures.

I also sometimes do random sounds, stuff like "bom" or "beebee".

By the way, name one of your mons Bom and he will become your favorite. I guarantee it.
