Aloha Marowak?

Good, it's been pretty much irrelevant outside of its plot point in the Kanto games

I'm not saying there won't be an alola variation marowak, but i'm pretty sure there's already been gym leaders known for owning a pokemon outside of their type speciality
though i can't remember whom

This, and making it a Fire/Ground type'll be great. The typing is lots of fun offensively and not bad defensively either, excluding a huge weakness to Water type attacks, so it might just grab a place on my team if it's not completely hopeless with an ability or changes to its stats. Marowak with Flare Blitz, Eathquake, Stone Edge, and Swords Dance'll be great.

Volkner, mostly. Probably some earlier-gen ones, too (eg. Koga's gym has some Hypnos and bug types, although I think he himself only used poison types).

It'd have situational use with its ability. Seeing it also procs on things like Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, and Quiver Dance makes me think it'll be much more useful in the meta for countering folks who set up with those sorts of moves, of which there are many.

I actually think Speed Boost would be thematically appropriate and extremely useful for it considering Marowak suffers from speed issues, as it twirls its bone around and builds up more and more momentum, speeding up as it does so.

I wouldn't be surprised, and that would be pretty sweet. Give it lower defenses in exchange for better speed and you'd have a monster on your hands.

"Normal" Marowak is okay in trick room doubles, having lightningrod gives it some utility for catching t-waves etc.
Not a miracle worker, but I've seen it used rather well.

All it would need is to get dragon dance to help with speed.

Just because the fourth Alola Totem guy has a marowak, doesn't mean the marow will be fire type
