You cant fix this mess. It's a shit clone for an overused mascot. Zero competitive potential, and zero purpose other than appearing in the anime for one season make this imo the shittiest gen 7 mon.

It doesn't actually resemble Pikachu that much at all with the cheeks removed. It looks more like a plain fat hamster or guinea pig without them.
It's a real shame they made it a Pikachu clone though. The cheeks are just shamelessly harping Pikachu outright. It being an electric type Pokemon is already mimicking Pikachu, granted. But visually speaking it would have been distinct enough was it just not for the cheeks.

Iron Barbs + Leftovers + Volt Switch/Flash Cannon/Rapid Spin would make for a decent utility pivot. I honestly think you're being a bit too harsh on it. So what if it's a "clone"? It's a fun traditional variation like the fossil-mons, it's completely harmless. Emolga is the only decent clone out of the bunch and it's by way of it's decent typing. Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu and Dedenne are absolute trash though, I'll give you that. But they have their merits. They get more and more varied with each gen conceptually.

If we are going based off assumptions, (which is a terrible idea but I'll bite) it's stats will be complete garbage. The HIGHEST stat total of the pikaclones is Dedenne at 431. The rest sit at 405. Since we know its typing and ability, we also know earthquake will shit on it. At least Mimmikyu has a useful ability and a cool typing which may grant it some relevancy outside of NU (granted we assume it has pikaclone level stats), but this thing... FU tier gutter trash just like pikasquirrel.
