Anecdotally, I haven't had trouble with <100CP Pokemon breaking out of balls in the last couple days. (I'm level 18.) However, hitting Great! is trickier (it's easier to undershoot and miss entirely) and no longer gives bonus xp, and the Pokemon do block and jump more.

Almost all the gyms I see now have lv9 filled with lv 25+ trainers with 2000 Dragonite or Snorlax in them, but I've never seen their trainer names anywhere else.
Either they're large groups of people taking gyms all over the city together or they're all spoofers/bots.

Just caught a 270CP Pidgey and 175CP Eevee with no breakouts. The Pidgey blocked my first ball though.

On the other hand, I've felt the need to use berries a lot more against stronger Pokemon since the update. So the high end feels like breakouts have increased, but the low end feels about the same.

I haven't played the games in a while. But, in GenWun, were there any third-level evolutions you could just catch in the wild? Eg Dragonite, Golem, etc. I don't remember any. I don't even think most second-tier evolutions could be caught in the wild, you usually had to start from the bottom and level up.
It kind of bugs me that you can just catch random evolved mons in the wild. Like instead of gathering up all the necessary candies, you'll just find a Nidoqueen out there. And then these evolved mons just give you the same shit candy as lesser ones. Evolved mons should at least give more candy or something.

They should make a rare item called beacons. If you take a gym and are unfortunate enough to be on Instinct what you do is set a beacon on the gym while you level it up. Other players on your team can see the beacon pulsating a distress signal from afar. They would be able to see like double or triple their normal distance if there's a flashing beacon of their team active. Then they can beeline toward the gym if they so desire and help out. I mean it's ridiculous I can leave an 1800 CP Snorlax at a level 3 gym and it's gonna be taken in 10-15 minutes because no one is ever coming to drop a mon.

Every mon has a max cp determined by their species.

i.e. You can't catch a weedle that maxes out at 100cp and one that maxes at 300cp.

It'll take more candy+stardust per "power up" for the 100cp to reach it's species' max cp than the one that starts at 300cp.

Pic-related looks like it will max around ~175cp. I'll post another that would Max around 315cp. And the first one is the one I caught more recent, so even when I'm a higher level the mons I catch can have lower MAX cp than earlier ones.

I've used two incenses. First was at work. I sit at a desk, ~2 pokemon per day. I heard incense will give 1 pokemon per 5 minutes when sitting still, was hoping to be able to do somethign at work. I caught literally zero pokemon. Sitting still with incense got me nothing.
Second was a few days ago, just walking around. I caught a bunch of common shit, pidgeys rats paras etc. Kind of a bummer, I thought incense would be like a mobile lure but it seemed to only attract the most common pokemon while lures attract all types.

Someone used all of that info to determine the max possible cp for everything, it might even be on that site but I don't see it atm.

Overall, if we're talking about efficiency at least. You're better off ignoring IV's, levelling your own trainer and evolving the highest CP mons you get to become competitive against Gyms if you want. Then when your trainer is high enough level you can finally power specific mons up to their max if your own level is high enough.

This is where you have to determine what you want to achieve in PGo and adjust your habits/plans accordingly.

Niantic has now began to obfuscate the API answers. This means that we will need to update the POGOProtos and implement the new hash b1f2bf509a025b7cd76e1c484e2a24411c50f0612.
Reverse Engineering an App with SSL Pinning is hard to do, thanks to git user rastapasta & cstrachan88 we able to bypass these security measures.
Niantic took a big step to block Bots. But we are sure this is bypassable.

How about team related stories? Team Mystic here, had an interesting last night.

I go down to a local hotspot where there's always two lures up, catch a few mons, then me and my gf decide to hunt on the other side of town because lures are only bringing in pidges and rats. After getting bored, she says why not go back to the lures for a few more supply runs. We go back, and there's this group of 6 Mystic players who look like Hot Topic casuals goofing off around the fountain. One idget gets the brilliant idea of running barefoot around the wet ground and busts his head open, slowly bleeding with a two inch gash. One of his friends runs over to the Firehouse across the road and the firefighters on duty won't do shit to help but say "UH, JUST GO TO HOSPITAL".

So I'm getting worried about the kid because he's just bleeding like a stuck pig and I just say fuck it and break out the first aid kit, my girlfriend wants to be nurse so I let her patch him up before I say "Come on, we're going to the ER NOW, get in my car".

I don't know what's going on lately, but my town has seen a spike in pokemon that were pretty uncommon before.

Vulpix, Sandshrew, Ponyta, and Geodude are suddenly everywhere, and suddenly Zubat, Meowth, and Ekans numbers have dwindled when they were frustratingly high before.

I know that nests apparantly change, but is it possible that a town's most common pokemon can rotate from time to time?

I just try to hit as many gyms as I can in a short amount of time and cash in as soon as I start to feel antsy.

Sometimes I can get my defender bonus for between 4 and 5 gyms this way, but they'll all be kicked out by the end of the day.

Brazilfag here. GO launched yesterday over here in buttfuck, but lo and behold i discovered it was incompatible with both my devices. Can someone help me out in how to download it or post me amlink to a tutorial? I remember there used to be one in the OP of /pgg/. I already tried downloading the .apk from Apk Mirror, but an error occurs that says "There was a problem parsing the package". I'm using Samsun Galaxy Tab if that helps.

Basically the reverse engineered API that was being used by mappers and bots sent random value info over to verify itself on Niantic's servers. However Niantic had a kind of encrypted value system built into the app that can send out a specific value/key to the servers to tell whether or not the value is coming from a legit app or another source.

Before today Niantic has not actually force implemented this system. But now they have (which is why everyone was forced to update to the latest version) and since the unofficial API cannot as of yet understand/use/crack the "unknown6" system all bots and mapping systems are dead until devs can crack/reverse engineer it.

Its not so much that they "made profit" than it is that they struck gold for a little while when the hype bypassed all reason.

Once Niantic started to fuck with things then the userbase started to pull mass refunds and just rip the reputation of the app apart. Both Apple and Google were considering pulling the app from the app market due to the mass refunds/low ratings it kept getting (not to mention the lack of a support center and unmoderated mailbox for support mail being against Google Play's TOS which would have been more than enough to take them off market). The fact of the matter is that the company name and those directly involved in the company are going to be listed in infamy by the time things are settled. People will put Niantic up above Blizzard, EA and Konami with how fucking misguided they made their decisions with the game and playerbase. All of this from ONE GAME no less, the name cannot recover from all this bad press.

Niantic could have had it all if they did not have their head up their ass with priorities and their lack of communication. They have doomed their company and reputation.

The sad thing is that I would have not minded applying for the job of community manager for GO. I know the CM for Ingress as well as the original niantic CM before he passed away. Hell I even met Hanke once at an Ingress "anomaly" meet up in NYC late 2013. The fact is that they ask for so much to apply for the job when in reality all you need is to connect with the community and relate with them while trying to let them know what the fuck is up with Niantic's end of things. It's not at all hard and it does not need a fucking bachelor's degree in communications nor does it need 5 years of communications experience to make it happen. All it needs is relation, understanding, trust and not being afraid to talk to the goddamn playerbase.

i wouldn't say doomed. People forget things really quickly, hardcore gamers probably won't forget entirely, but will forgive - especially if Niantic manage to get this shit ironed out within a month or so.

The issue is that they underestimated vastly just how popular the game would be. So they didnt have enough servers to release it properly, causing a really staggered release. Staggered release meant people sideloaded it to get in on the action early, which meant more strain on the servers. To help keep the game stable, Niantic are setting more servers up and had to disable the "nearby" feature.

Now they're trying to release it in more, really populated places, like South America. Which is only going to add more to the server load. If they dont have it all ironed out as they bring this new area online then everyone else is going to see a lot of downtime and the nearby glitch will be postponed even further. Whereas if they do have it ironed out, we won't get hardly any downtime from the new bulk of server strain - and we can likely expect them start fixing the nearby glitch soon after that.

The reason third party sites like pokevision etc have been closed down is because they ping the server for the locations of Pokemon - your phone did the same when the nearby system worked. The problem was that all of these many, many, many pings, you're adding to the server load hugely. So they had to disable it, to try and stabilise the servers in general.

Fucking exactly, I'm glad someone said this. I didn't apply for that exact reason. And I'm glad I didn't, because if I got hired by some miracle, I'd have a shitstorm of rightfully angry players to deal with every minute of every day because Niantic doesn't know what the fuck they're doing.
