I did not know excadrill was so short until recently. I imagined it as at least as 5-6 feet tall.
>>
>feet

Gtfo freedomfag
>>
pokédex size is a meme considering heights are constantly portrayed differently in official media and that in some side games, old Gamefreak interviews and the anime its explained that species can have a lot of size variation
>>
Magneton's weight is ridiculous.

Pic related. It's only a foot/0.3 of a metre tall.
>>
the pokedex info is made up by the kids who encounter the mons
>>
I prefer all Pokemon being 4-5 feet tall. Makes them feel more like little monsters to train. Catching a giant flashing dragon in a ball isn't really something I can envision. Catching a 4 foot dragon guy is more appealing and 'realistic'.

Richard you're losing it bro.
Nothing you said or shown disproves what the guy said.
Having a high-tech computational device still allows you to write whatever dumb shit you want. You know, like this board's raison d'être

Graveler is only 3'03" feet tall. That's one meter for you Eurocucks

And you can't tell me that a four foot tall lizard wouldn't still be intimidating. Especially if you knew that it could breathe fire or was lethally venomous.

>>
>>27520237
I like that early concept art of the trainer with his little Rhydon buddy just exploring a cave.
That's what Pokemon always felt like to me. Having little monster friends, not big, spiky, glowing space god dragons.
A cool, 5 foot lava duck? Nice.
A 10 foot snake? Cool.
A 30 foot embodiment of the concept of anger? Nah.
Some of the big Pokemon work, like Onix or Milotic, or now I guess the new Exeggutor. But they're big because of length, or height. They're not massive beasts a mile tall or anything. Onix is, what 30 feet or something? That's probably only the length of my driveway.
>>
>>27520209
Normally I'd agree with you, but the Pokédex entries don't reflect information that any device could possibly deduce just by scanning the Pokémon, and entries can't have been pre-written or the player wouldn't need to collect them for the professor in the first place. So if you don't think the kid wrote them then where do they come from?
>>
>>27520261
I bet you think Mew can learn crabhammer.
>>
Larvitar is like 1 foot, but wheighs 72kg. Bullshit cuz ash was carrying it around like nothing
>>
>>27520285
>professor Oak has spent decades exploring the world studying Pokemon
>somehow he hasn't observed, described, catalogued or photographed a single one
The professors already know all the Pokemon.
>>
>>27520285
>>27520261
The pokedex just fucking learns this shit because it follows the common fiction trope of using unexplainable high tech devices that shouldn't work in real life.
>>
Alright I guess this is turning in to one of those threads.

The Pokédex is literally canon. Prove me wrong.

>Inb4 Mew can't learn Crabhammer

Mew can transform in to any Pokémon via the move Transform, and thus can use any move.

Checkmate, newfags.
>>
>>27520134
Dont't you have random guy on the street to be shoot by?
>>
>>27520314
then what's the point in giving 10 year olds the pokedex to "complete" them
>>
>>27520328
>what's the point of using kids to collect data for you free of charge
>>
>>27520285
Encyclopedias don't create information. They just put together already existing information about a certain subject in one place.

Maybe the pokedex does just that: access the pokemon's info and download it so everything will be in one place and not scattered in libraries all over the world.
>>
>>27520328
So you have a record in-game of what Pokemon you've caught and can look up the types and shit.

In fiction? Probably just some cheap crap they churn out in sweatshops. Every kid seems to have a Pokedex, they're not special. The professors always say "I need your help to blah blah", but they're obviously already absolute experts. They're just humouring you. Like when you give a kid the very, very, VERY important job of holding the paint bucket.

Blastoise is as tall as Noctowl
Lucario and Nidoking are smaller than many children
Machamp is a manlet
Ursaring is a manlet
But Beartic is 2m
There are no true giant pokemon towering at like 5m or 10m, except for serpentines
>>

Wailord is 15m, if we assume that's its length then it's probably around 5m tall.

I think the pokedexes at this point are basically an excuse for the characters to go on a journey around the region, so it's more for the kids to use than the professors.I even think they said something like that in BW, although it has been a while since I played them so I'm not sure
>>
>>27520323
See Electivire's entry:
>It pushes the tips of its two tails against the foe, then lets loose with over 20,000 volts of power.
It's literally nonsense, volts are not a unit of power. The Pokedex is full of shit. They actually fixed this in BW but then fucked it up again in ORAS

>>
>>27520443
385 isn't really a bad BST. There are Pokemon that low that do fine.
The problem with Onix is that he's way, way too gimmick based. All of his stats are in defense, and he has like 5 points put into everything else.

And I never even got the point of physical defensive mons. If it's physical defense is 150 and its special defense is 60 then people will just use special attacks on it. This always annoyed me because it basically means the Pokemon has no use. It might be useful against purely physical attackers, but a lot of pure physical Pokemon are fighting, a type Onix is fucking weak to.

I guess it filled a purpose in Gen 1 since basically every Pokemon used nothing but Normal moves. But not anymore.
>>
>>27520328
Imagine it like Oak just getting around to knowing all 150 pokemon after his life of studying. Now he knows most things about them, like their entries, but not weight and stuff. He wants to catalog them in a book or something so that one can easily check one up. But he is too "old" (even if he is still in his 40s in RBY) and convinces a kid to do it for him for free

To be fair, Ash is demonstrably stronger than Earth humans have any right to be.
>that time when he jumped dozens of feet into the air with ease
>that time he tossed over a ton of wood like it was nothing
If the Pokemon world humans can pull that kind of shit without visible effort, it's suddenly not that surprising that a six-foot pseudo could single-handedly tear down an entire mountain.
>>
>>27520527
>If it's physical defense is 150 and its special defense is 60 then people will just use special attacks on it.
Yeah that's why Skarmory is so bad, right? I mean it's not like you can't get a nature and use EVs to fix the garbage stat or anything.
>>
>>27520117
But the heights in the dex are still averages. So Excadrill is still a manlet species. Same with Nidoking.
>>
>>27520075
You don't have to worry about those anymore since SM is basically retconning them and using anime heights.

There's that astonishing European education coming into play.

>>27520130
In most games there are anglers or bug catchers who will ask you for a certain Pokemon, and they'll always tell you its weight/height, which will be different.
>>
>>27520170
Fuck off. The only time the dex is correct is when the game goes out of its way to demonstrate it. Everything else is false until proven true.

In Pokemon some orgins of items are switched
Icecream was made because Vaniluxe
Calender was made because there was a Pokemon that was changing where nature changed
Klink line were probably the precursors of the gear.
>>
>>27524686
>Doesn't Gamefreak know seasons are a social construct?

Not really. They are observable phenomenom.
The actual social construct is that there's only 4.
