1, 2, and 4 don't have deserts, and make sense as far as Ice/volcano go.
5 is really the only one with forced geography. 3's desert is kinda silly, admittedly, but besides that it mostly makes sense.
However cool New York is as a setting in concept, it really didn't work in practice since you did need more variety than just one massive city and surrounding forest. Pretty much a tubing with a larger size than just a city works.

Personally, I am pulling for Australia, North Africa, or South Africa/Madagascar. Any of these could be interesting and well done, with effort.

I guess it wouldn't be too bad if they had a Greece region with seasons though. We're very mountainous so a lot of snow piles up in the winter even in the south. Plus I'd like GF to experiment with "Evolve Exeggcute in summer = Alola Exeggcutor" which can only make sense in a subtropical region like Hoenn or Greece. The region itself is kinda generic, but that's never stopped GF from inserting random deserts so I don't think about that too much.
If anything, I wish they touch upon a theme of old living with the new. There are many examples of how we live along with tradition. Many castles and churches are everywhere, and each city/town has its own one-day holiday for celebrating their associated Saint. I know they touched upon the conflicts of past and future with Unova, but I feel like they can have one where they work together have more significance. I also think the contrast between tropical island beaches and snowy mountains could make for a fun region to explore.
Plus the country's shape is too cool to ignore.
