The compile code here is pretty standard for oras and XY, we're hoping the compile code for the source engine in Sun and Moon will have little variation (i.e. same bag and box system)

That's why I don't really like Showdown all that much. Doesn't give the same feeling as putting together a team of real Pokemon, which is why I can't comprehend how people play the actual game instead of showdown when they aren't even using real Pokemon anyway and just want to battle.
I guess the game looks better, but that's about it. Can't even do 6v6 singles rated in actual game.
Like, don't get me wrong, I don't really care what people do either way, and I'm not going to whine and complain about hackmons, I'm just saying I don't really get it.

I understand why people would like Showdown, I just don't understand why people who use hackmon wouldn't prefer to just use that instead.

I don't know. I only know that I'm very much a spirit of the game or theme kind of person, despite however childish that makes me.
I like the idea of the more time you put into your Pokebros the better they will perform on the stage. If you don't put a lot of time and love into them, then they are going to be weaker.
Same thing with why I like playing with actual cards in Yu-Gi-Oh. Feels more authentic. In reality, people don't have access to every card. They play with what they have and the favorites they could afford to get or put the time into getting.
Maybe I've just watched too much anime and played too many rpg games in my day.

Also, I don't really count injectors that just like to troll people into the equation. They are just outliers meant to be ignored.
